Name and Shame

There are obviously some dodgy liars about on here, but equally there are some fabulous people on here! One who even lent us a horse for 4 days for riding camp! now that is truly a kind and amazing thing to do.

I have to say though I am very wary of sending stuff to people. I have done it once/twice and it has gone fine but wouldn't make a habit out of it. I hope you track said person down soon and the bit is returned.

I know this is a name and shame post and I totally agree with it....but I'd just like to add that I have sent some things to users that I no longer needed and the users have gone above and beyond offering to pay for items that I was happy to give away.

Bad apples really do spoil the barrel and I hope they are ashamed of themselves but sadly I fear that if they are capable taking something then they won't be too bothered by this!

That is terrible, hopefully you will get it returned quickly.

The truth is we really dont know who we are talking to on here, even if they have a high post count, people are not always like their pessona's.

I sadly met a lying, bullying and manipulative one, who I had to call the police on after their BF threatened my mother when I was out one day, over her lies.

I am sorry OP that you have had this bad experience from a member on this forum. It is not just the money but the lack of respect. I replied to a post from a forum member wanting a second hand racing saddle, she lived in my county. She arrived on time, bought my racing saddle and various other racing tack, bridle, paddock sheets, martingale etc. Payed in cash, she even offered me more than I wanted!! I was glad to let it all go to a good home and be used again as I am now too old!!! I just wanted to put a possitive post on. The few ruin it for everyone else.

It's such a shame that you have to assume that EVERYBODY is out to shaft you in one way or another :( I know not everyone is like that but unfortunatley alot are and that's how you have to look at things and people these days :( It is a real shame

Jenni_ you must be near me then :)!
It is terrible that people do this but it sadly does happen :( Even in real life ive lent people things and they are never returned or even stolen :(

crikey, munketytunkety, that's terrible, I'd be livid. Some people are the pits.
Maesfen, got to be worth a try, start a post with that name and see if anyone knows her.
:( :( :(

K, I already have done so as you will see by the following (sorry to hijack OP, but just to show you what lengths I've already gone to to get my property back ). I haven't heard anything back since this registered letter went to her so a lot of good it did me!

Dear Michelle,

I am writing to you by registered post so that I can know you have received it.
I would very much like the return of my Bonner Bandage that you borrowed as far back as autumn 2006.
Despite repeated requests via PM on the forum, you have yet to return it to me and I am getting more than a bit annoyed to say the least.
Below are copies of your PMs to me just to jog your memory.

This is your message from 3/12/06. I’ve used copy and paste so everything is as you have written it -

hi, thanks for the help on the rubber matting! I will have a look around, we want it quite thick so i think its going to be more expensive.

I have been using the bonner bandage everyday. After he has been for his walk i put it on to reduce any heat. ITS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing thing, i really liek it, do you want em to send it back as i can get one myself! Sorry i forgot, you must be wantign it back sorry i really did forget!

how are you? Are all of your horses ok? Are you lookinh forward to x-mas?

kind regards
Mischahi,

Same day from you –

WOW! Thanks pat! Thats very kind of you! just shout if you need it (fingers crossed for you that you dont!)

This is from 18/12/07 when I had asked for it to be returned if you had finished with it as it was over a year since you had first borrowed it –

i must say i am so sorry, i have been on and off of hho, i dont know if you know but the grey in my sig that i used the bandage on was pts about 2 months ago and when i got your message i just burst into tears. i am so sorry and embarressed but i just left the laptop and forgot to pm you back, you must be so angry but i was really just upset and he was my angel and i did everything for him. Now my other horse, the dark bay in my sig has just done a suspensory ligament on his hind leg , again i am so upset and it is just another thing to add to my list as well as other things, just struggled with this year as been so mucg gone worng, losing ym angel and now my comp horse coudl potentialy not compete ever again. I am using the bandage on him but if you want i can send it back, i am so sorry and make no excuses as i should of pm'd you back but i guess i just did not want to think about it”

This is your reply to my reply, the same day –

“i am so sorry and thanks for being SO understanding, i am sorry you had to result to repling to a post of mine, i really am sorry and if you want i will send the bandage back, i really should buy one of my own seeing as i use it sooo much!

Dont worry i would never steal so you will def get it back xxx”

Now we go on to 22/9/08 and only after I used a Read receipt as two PMs earlier had been ignored -

Hi Pat, thanks sooooooooooooooo much for lending it to me! I really appreciate it! I will send it to you tomorrow!

Many Thanks and fingers crossed you wont need it!

Lots of love

Mischa

In desperation on 29/10/08, I posted this in New Lounge under the heading –
TOPHORSE! I Don’t Like To Ask On Public Forum But…………..and have still not had the decency of a reply from you or my bandage back even although I know you were online later that day –

“Please can I have my Bonner Bandage back now? You promised to send it on 22nd September but I still haven't received it and I think after nearly two years that's a long enough loan don't you?

I'm sorry if this post embarrasses you but I have asked for it back several times before by PM so this is my last resort before I bill you for a new one as you've surely had more use out of it than I ever did and it was as new when you had it in December 2006.”

Luckily, someone who knows you had the decency to send me your address as they think your attitude is horrid after I have done you a favour for so long.

So I would like my Bonner Bandage returned asap please and that can be the end of the matter.
If you have damaged, ruined or lost it, I would like reimbursement too of course, I think that’s fair
but most of all I would like an honest reply as that is what you say you are. That’s not too much to
ask is it towards someone who did you a favour out of kindness when there was no need on her part?

Looking very forward to hearing from you and receiving my bandage back.

Yours sincerely,

Pat (MFH-09)
.

Perhaps someone in the Angus area can stop by and remind Ms M ....

I always believe the best in people but I must admit some people make it quite hard.

That's a nightmare. And it's reminded me that i let my Bonner bandage to someone too (someone in real life!) and I can't for the life of me remember who, argh.
This thread has also reminded me that a forum member still has my tophat and tails, in spite of a couple of reminders. Arghhh. I've lent them to about 5 different HHOers and this is the first time I've had a problem. Starting to regret being generous with them... :( :( :(

Yes, I have her address, it's miles from me, and I have sent her another letter asking for the bit back, but she is ignoring me. She is ignoring my PM's too.

Where abouts is she....if she is near me,id be happy to go and get it back for you.Can not believe the nerve of some people.

ETS......sorry didnt read all of the posts before posting this.

Thanks all of you and again, sorry OP for hijacking.

I have to say I have lent loads of things out from books to saddles, both before and after then with not one problem at all and still will if I can help someone. This forum is, in the main full of nice, honest people, just such a shame that some are prepared to spoil it for others by being silly, stupid, rude or dishonest, but that's life I suppose, good and bad go together.

Just outside Longniddry :) Do you have horses at a yard in the area?
Kerilli i really hope you get them back as top hats and tails are ££££ It is sad that you can't trust people these days :(
Q

not far at all then!

no i dont have any horses at the moment but im going to look at a warmblood for share next week at Oxenfoord :) fingers crossed I could be back competing next year

On a wider scale I really think there should be a name and shame board. Some of the horror stories of genuine people being shafted by rogue dealers is awful.

Surely the ' if you've got nothing to hide you've got nothing to fear' adage should be right and in this way horse sports could clean its act up for the benefit of everyone and the genuine dealer will have more business if the rogues are put out of business.

I know its a minefield of defamation but some sort of ' kitemark' of good practice would help everyone .

OP I really hope you get your bit back, it leaves a bad taste to help someone out and this happens.

Agree totally with you. These scum dealers should be shown up for what they truely are!!!

How horrid some people really are! Shame on whoever this Rache person is. Hopefully karma will get them back one day. There is just no need for such rudeness.

I just got a saddle from a super lady on another forum the other day. She very kindly posted it and it even arrived before she had even sent me her details to pay for it!

Hopefully there are still more honest people than thieving gits. Horse equipment is so expensive and trying before you buy is always the best opportunity to have and kind people helping others is always appreciated.
