See your point, having a dog, both syllables of his name rhyme with 'no' so I either never use it or use it in a completely different way, pitch, tone. Trained a dog called Bo who's head was up her jacksie for the same reason, wouldn't recall, I wonder why!!!

I've a collie dog called Joe. He now responds to a bawled out "OI,,,,you bugger, you"!! "No" is a complete waste of time!!

With collies, the verbal direction for a dog to go to its left, is Come Bye Here, and to it's right is Away To Me. How many times have I forgotten myself, because of the gundog/sheepdog cross over, and said Here, just to have a collie take off to its left hand!

Similarly, gundogs told "That'll do", look at me as though I've gone out!!
