natrual horsemanship!

No-one's getting at your horses. But people are concerned about your mare's wellbeing.

The advice on here tends to be direct (sometimes a little blunt) but it's often very good advice. You may not like it, but I'm afraid what people are saying to you on this thread is only the truth.

I think if i start from the begining it will help. A few years back the owner of my yard bred and broke in a mare called roxanne which he then gaveto his wife. After only a short whilethe wife got bored and gave up riding. SO he then hired someone who said they were experinced to ride roxanne, they wasn't and ended up with a broken collar bone! then john (the owner) turned her away to grass 24/7 no rugs of chelter. when i joined they yard roxanne really stood out for me she had amazing movement and was great on the ground! Meand my older brother began riding her where she was faboulous! Then another lady got involved, roxanne got confused and began missbehaving for the other lady so she changed her bridle! I got people to check the bridle and all have said it was fine. I saw the lady was struggling so begged if she wanted to share her with me, which she did after noticing her saddle was too big I made itsure we both wasn't going to ride her until it was sorted. Roxanne started coming in for the odd lunge on a wronglyfitted bridle and started bombing around a bit. the lady waskeen to keep her in the field for a bit longer, but i could slowly see all our progress drifting away. I decided to make roxanne a prupose it started of with me just sitting in the field but now weplay games and all sorts! she comes galloping over tome in the field and will stand attentive listening to me speak. sometimesi bring her in the school to have a go at some tricks and sometimesi lunge her. shes made a dramatic improvement with me in the lunge and on the ground. she still has the odd bolt or buck on the lunge but nothing like she was :)

shes in a hanging snaffle, but it was upside down so both the reins and check pieces were conected to the extra bit round bits :(

It might just be me, but I don't understand how this- surely the cheek piece and reins wouldn't fit through the smaller ring (if the bit was upside down presumably this would be the lower ring?)

no if it was teh right way round it looks like a b and the little round bits are at the top and bigger ones at the botoom but because hers were upside down they were both connected to the big ring which was wrongly at the top

I'm sorry OP, but you purport to be experienced when clearly you are extremely inexperienced and therefore you don't sound remotely suitable to be dealing with this mare. In all honesty, I don't think you are suitable at this stage to be owning a horse of your own.

Ah right, I see what you mean. But it's really worrying that whoever checked the bridle didn't spot it a mile off.

Snort.

Dear me, OP. I'm not usually one to get involved in these types of threads but...

A few years back the owner of my yard bred and broke in a mare called roxanne which he then gaveto his wife.

But you can't tell when a bit is upside down? And your other thread about cross country: "if i don't enough leg on he will stop and too much means i wont stop"?

I'm sorry, I judged you to be about 14, and had had no formal tuition, and was feeling a bit sorry for you. I simply don't believe what you say about your "experience". It doesn't make sense.

Haha!! How exactly would you know what I have and haven't done?

Op quite frankly is either very young and immature, a troll, deluded, a big liar (but not a very good one!), or all...

And you still didnt recognise a hanging cheek was upside down?!?! The mind boggles! Surely the famous SJers used a variety of bits??

OP - I am going to ignore all the comments about experience etc but what I do think is worth praising is that from what you say you have a good relationship with the mare (she comes cantering to you) and a good relationship is the foundation of all successful partnerships.

As other posters have said, and you have agreed with, sorting saddle, checking back / teeth etc is really the first port of call.

When that is done please revisit this thread and consider some of the suggestions regarding a IH instructor / extra help on the ground (sometimes a fresh pair of eyes sees things we don't) There is so much experience and knowledge in this forum, please do make the most of it. Good luck!

I'm fairly sure OP is a very young teen or a troll (or both). Her comment about trailers read like someone spouting what they'd been told with no evidence to back it up, especially as she didn't come back to explain her position.

Said comment to save people going looking for it:
I dont agreee with towing and would never do it but im aware that my views wont change other peoples! the perfect vechile for towingwould be a van. just out weigh the weight of horse and trailer

Of course, OP, I'm still really interested to hear your justification for this!
