need advice pls

She would be spayed, only her uterus is not as it would be, it's now a hell of a lot bigger and filled with infection/puss/blood, you have to see it to believe how big it is, but the vet will be operating alot longer and have to take a alot more care to stem bleeding aswell as possible contamination from the infectious materials, so you are paying more for the extra time and complication that comes with a pyometra.

Thats what I just said :D:D:D:D

And this is why we spay dogs as soon as possible!!!

Sorry your dog is going throught this. Know in the future it can be easily prevented by spaying the bitch.

Pyometra is just horrible for a bitch to have - I am ashamed to say I had a whippet with it, and never want to see it again! With my whippet she was pausing between mouthfuls when she was eating, no excessive drinking or discharge for her, so I had her into the vets ASAP and they operated the next day :(

If your greyhound has pyo then they will spay her, but the operation is more complicated because the uterus is contaminated with pus and infection so they need to remove all that too :o Hence more costly than a "straightforward" spay operation.

I would ring your vets again, or better still take her down there, and get a proper opinion from someone who speaks decent English :)

Ah, it's all become clear:p

Ok just checked water and had 2/3rds of pint left so has drunk 2 and 1/3 pints in about 5 hours. Still seems happy wagging tail will keep an eye and if worse in morning will call vet again.

Our setter had pyometra when she was about 8 or 9. She was lethargic and drinking loads of water. She was spayed and made a good recovery. She was poorly just for a couple of days before she was operated on. Good luck, you may have to take in before monday though

Sorry had to go out. Not sure what she is leaking, doesn't smell like wee, but then doesn't smell really bad either. It looks like it's leaking from her lady garden. It's clear possibly cloudy as wasn't alot there at time most had soaked into her bed.

:D:D Oh I love it "lady garden" that`s SO funny!:D
