I'm thinking I might take advanatage of Black Friday to get a new dressage girth for Rose as sadly my lovely leather Fairfax is too big for her. My fairfax has a 24 stamped on it, so I presume that it's size. she's quite narrow in front so I am thinking the prolite narrow would be a better option and a 20"? She 15.3. what do you think? I probably won't get a prolite in the sale but at least I could look for something else suitable if I could gauge the size she needs

and what the length would be to the buckles you want to use, remembering that longer is usually better for elbows ;).
Or order two and send one back :p

Good plan!
Mine have 26 And 28" girths 😄 lots of elbow room, arguable salty could have a longer girth but it nearly touches saddle flaps on kira 😉

Having been out to measure Rose this morning i am totally confused as she would seem to need a 28 but why does the fairfax which clearly states 24 seem too big on her, Drrrrrr when you measure from buckle to buckle, where do you start on the buckle, it measures 24. I am totally confused but didn't sleep very well as Rose had only done one dropping before bedtime and I was on constant colic watch, with my bedroom window wide open so I could hear her. It was a bit like sleeping in a fridge. OH has very kindly offered to set up an infra red camera so I can watch her from the house as he can see how anxious I feel. Is it always like this when you have lost a horse to colic or am I just beng feeble?

I think when you've had any kind of serious problem with a horse you tend to be on high alert for that same problem for a good while. x hope she had done enough to fill your wheelbarrow this morning :)

Maybe yours is stamped incorrectly? Mine measure correctly from buckle end to buckle end, I have a fairfax and a prolite :)

I think it's always like this when you have a horse full stop! The constant worry is exhausting sometimes.

FWIW, my 14.2 Connie who's quite fine takes a 24 inch, but with a fair amount of room to spare. He could probably take a 22.

Ha ha she did enough to fill a big bucket, she's fine, it's me who's a wreck! Yes, it's definitely a 24" Having changed her saddle back to my Ideal, it's actually just OK and I think when she's put on some muscle generally it will fit well, so I am going to go for the prolite narrow in 24" not that I can find one with any sort of discount! (of course)
