need lots of vibes please :(

Oh dear, poor sore boy. I have a set of photos of my mare's legs that are amost identical except she had a very deep slice on one hock, two clear shoeprints on her belly and a lump the size of a grapefruit on her hindquarters. She was elderly, part blind and arthritic and YO thought it was fine to put a new young mare straight in with the other oldies, despite the fact it had injured others at its previous yard which led to its owner being asked to leave. Poor old girl was hobbling and stiff. Lots of painkillers, manuka honey at night and aloe gel by day on the wounds and she healed up fine, although the deep slice took several weeks to grow right over.

hes being xrayed tomorrow faracat vet wanted to see if he improved with the anti inflammitorys first x

I've only just seen this and your OP has taken me right back to May. It's is truly awful and my heart is with you in hoping that the x rays are clear and that all the healing vibes, including masses that I am sending can work for him.

Really hoping for positive news soon for you xxx

Oh poor baby. :( I bet he's feeling so sore and sorry for himself and what a shock and a worry for you. :(

Hope he is feeling a bit better today and I'll be keeping everything crossed that the X-rays bring good news. x

Poor boy looks like hes taken a right doing :-( , and while i in no way want to minimise whats happened as its truly awful for you and him, i agree with Paulinh, the cuts and bruising although worrying for you and very sore for him just now will heal with minimal treatment.
Try not to worry to much about a possible re break as that would be awful bad luck and very unusual, when new bone is laid down at a fracture site. If time has passed it generally makes that area a bit stronger. Loads of healing vibes for him and peace of mind vibes for you

yeah not fussed about the cuts to be honest, i know theyll heal theyre just awful stingy for him just now. unfortunately the type of fracture he had the vet said that leg will always have a weakness so thats why i'm so concerned about it :(

Poor thing. Sending you tons of good luck vibes. Hope very much that all the damage is just cuts and bruises.

And poor you too - take care of yourself, your horse is going to need you!

Poor thing. Hope he heals quickly and it is just soreness. I use an anti-bacterial and soothing cream called filtabac on cuts like those (also makes a good sun cream) and it works really well to keep them clean and as comfy as possible in the early days.

Oh no, hope he's okay! If it's any consolation, Trev did something that resulted in similar injuries - in fact, I had to double check your photos as they look so much like some of mine! He was being a self-harming TB & somehow managed to fall down a manhole cover, skinning his legs & getting lots of bruising. V stiff indeed to start with, & I was worried, but it all healed up fine, so he had a nice blank canvas all ready for the next self-harming episode.

Hope yours heals up quixkly.

T x

went up this morning and he was still pretty stiff and lame, he stood for a couple of hours outside after he got his meds with a haynet. when i brought him back to his box he walked as if nothing was wrong with him! trying not to get too optimistic as i know the meds he is on are really strong, but hoping this is a good sign.

still very swollen but the cuts are a lot better. excuse the tumeric!

fingers crossed for tomorrow

If you know for sure whose horse caused this I would be going after them for costs. I hope your yard owner/manager has learned from this.

Having had this happen to one of ours I know how you feel, I hope it is all soft tissue damage, load up with arnica for the poor boy.

i wouldnt ask anyone to pay for vet bills.. and yes the horse has now been moved into another paddock well away from the others with a horse it is close with so if all goes well with fox he shouldnt get any more hassle when he goes back out. and thank you, me too!

Really?? Good luck with that. My horse has had her leg fractured twice being kicked by other horses and as OP said, I wouldn't even think of trying to get money from another horse owner. If you turn out with others you take the risk.

Hope your horse gets better soon OP.

How long ago did he fracture his leg? Only asking as my horse fractured his radius and cost 5,,k in vets bills. The leg is not excluded, when I asked whether it would be following treatment they said no it wouldn't be as a fracture once healed is healed and unlikely to reoccur so they didn't exclude it/ worth a check?
