My horse was kicked 2 weeks ago, nothing bad just a little graze but she is the type of horse to swell quite bad over the smallest of nicks so i carried on riding her lightly and luckily she didn't swell too much just a little puffy in the mornings but that had always gone by the time i had finished riding.
Well i didn't go down over the weekend and when i got down on Monday her leg had swelled right up which didn't help by the fact she had had to stay in due to the weather. She had heat in it this time round but was not lame so as a precaution i went to the vets and collected some antibiotics.
I have been hacking her all week mainly walking and by the time i get back to the yard the swelling has almost disappeard apart from a tiny bit round the cut. She has no heat now and she still isn't lame. The only problem is by the morning the swelling is back up again although admittedly its getting less and less each day.
Now my problem is, i have a show tomorrow that was arranged before all this happened so my question is, do i take her, bandage her legs up and give her plenty of time before hand walking around and warming up or do i pull out??
If this was a one off thing that happened then i would pull out but it happens everytime she nicks herself (even if she just brushes) and i always just ride her through it as long as there is no heat or lameness but i'm just worried as i wouldn't usually jump. what do you guys think??
