Can anyone help me here please. I am in a mess. I have 6 horses, well 4 horses, 1 foal & 1 Shetland. I started with my own mare 9 years ago when she was a foal. Then I took on another one because of the way the owner treated her, they were nasty to her & she was stabled day & night. A few years later the same thing happened. A beautiful horse came on to the yard & was treated horrible. She kicked & reared though fear & was unsafe to be around. They sold her & then the new owners returned her. The treatment was not good on the horse. In the end I took her on & had a trainer out to her. To cut a long story short, I took on the rest of the horses to stop them being ill treated. Now I am going through divorce & losing my home in the next few months & to make matters worse, my job is going also.
The oldest horse suffers with arthritis & needs to be in a stable at night when it is freezing or snowing. One suffers with laminitis, the rest are well.
I am struggling now with cost, the farrier, wormer's, rent & injections. I have been caring for them for the last 9 years now. The last two came to me last year.
I cannot have them PTS & I know everyone is suffering with bills & out going payments each week/month. But I am now at my wits end. I am so scared what will happen to them. There is only one that is broken for riding, the rest are not. So really a lot of people will not be interested in wanting them. They are all so used to being with each other & turned out 24/7.
Does anyone know of any places anywhere that take on horses without parting them all up. They have been together for so long. Or at least keeping them in pairs.
I know a lot will say that it is impossible to rehome all the horses together & I know that in my heart, but if anyone as any ideas at all that can help, that would be great.
My head is in a bit of a mess just now & I am scared for the horses. They are in a good field at the moment, but it is the up keep of them I am finding it hard to do.
I have been told how daft I am for taking on so many horses over the time, but I was in a good marriage & a good job. I have been able to do this for the last 9 years, but now everything is falling down around me.
Please don't say to have them PTS, or I want is any advice that can help them. There might be no where for them to go, I am just trying to see if there is anywhere at all.
Many thanks in advance.
