Champagne all round

Ok, just in from work, been thinking of the ponies all day - 18 pages to read - what is the shortish version to put me out my misery?

I will of course start reading the post but if someone can do a quickish fill in - much appreciated

I offered cyber-champagne all round ages ago but no-one seems to want any? Where are you all - I simply cannot believe you are all teetotal. First, biggest glass goes to Andy...

BHS are very good, we acquired a BHS welfare case years ago after welfare instructor made (not sure how!) the owners keep it at an appropriate livery yard due to chronic laminitis and mismanagemnet. She was my fave pone (slightly evil but fabulous), the lami got her in the end but she had a good couple of years first.

sea view:

RSPCA and WHW attended the horses a month ago with a vet and said they were ok

BHS welfare top guy and local inspector have been there all morning (with HHO contingent), vet arrived at 3pm, says they needed removing, cue police to assist in the removal of the 2 bad ones.

HHO have also run a story online.

WOW Read the post last night and was very sad/angry.
Went out today, came back - and - sorted!

Very well done those involved.

I am sure those horses would say Thank You if they could.

I had to leave half way through this post, and have just managed to catch up. What a fantastic result.
Well done everybody, those involved and those donating. What a fantastic bunch of people you all are.
Hows the just giving total doing? I'll be donating and renewing my BHS membership without fail.
Really well done.

Haha, I ain't teetotal! Agreed, hope all involved in this case molly themselves a bit. You all deserve it for the changes you have made for these horses.

Any update on press coverage? There's nothing online on the Mercury. I spoke to a reporter this morning who was going and I gather that press were there. The fact that they were actually removed with police presence must be a newsworthy story. The action of the forum members as a whole must also be a newsworthy story!!

So pleased to hear the horses will receive the care they need, poor things

Given that no one here was present when the RSPCA/WHW attended the horses previously I think the mass vilification of the organisations and the vet involved is a bit much
crazy.gif

Who knows how the horses presented a few weeks ago, what the owners had to say for themselves at the time, or what plans were in place to monitor the horses. At the end of the day, welfare organisations have to work within legislation and may well have felt frustrated themselves at not being able to do more.

I still cant get my head around the fact that both the RSPCA and WHW knew about these 2 horses, and done nothing, and the vet that said there were "ok" is beyond belief.

A truly shocking story.

Has anyone wrote on the RSPCA facebook page??? last week they were bombarded with people disgusted that they had 10 GSD's pts by bolt gun, those werent given a chance.

lzt I agree to an extent but the RSPCA were notified about the decline in the horses on sunday and had not yet attended to check them

I understand your point lzt, but it has been confirmed that the welfare organisations were "monitoring" the horses for the last month which means that either the horses were in this state a month ago or their decline has been so rapid that it could not possibly have been missed by anyone keeping an eye on them. I realise that we don't know all the facts, but this alone is shameful.
