are just a waste of money. Over the years I've spent plenty on numerous pairs of neoprene wellies in an effort to keep dry & warm through the winter at stables & all these boots have never lasted long. They all end up splitting on a crease or pulling away upper from the sole & thus letting in water. I've bought expensive & bought cheap & in between &none have been good & many alot worse.

I'm now reverting to plain wellingtons & thick socks but now I'm finding it hard to find proper rubber wellies. They all seem to be pvc or a mixture. Why can't the manufacturers leave things alone & adopt the adage "If it aint broke don't fix it". I suppose it's because old fashioned wellies last for years & they'd rather sell you a pair every 9 months or so. :(
 
Tedious, isn't it. I loved the Ariat neoprene lined wellies that I had, but they weren't very long lasting. I've got very unglamorous farmer wellies now, BUT I have neoprene insoles made of old chopped up over reach boots. Wellie heaven. I highly recommend it! :lol:
 
I have to disagree, I've had my aigles for almost as long as I've had my mare, which is 14 years! they are still fighting fit!

EArly this year, I feel off the muck trailer and thought I'd broken my ankle and was told that I'd need to go to hospital and they've cut my wellies off!! I refused to go for that reason alone!! I made my mum come down and help me out of the boots!! luckily I'd only done the ligament in, but my good has it taken ages to heal!!

I have heard that they don't make them like they used to now though! which is why I was keeping mine in one piece, whatever the price haha
 
I think having horses is the kiss of death for any boot. I now drive down to the yard in stable clogs to try to keep some muck out of the jeep, change into muck boots to do yard and change into ariats to ride. My muck boots have to deal with horse urine in the box and very very sticky mud down into the field. I killed my ariat paddock boots - they might be "yard" boots, but died an early death. Hoping my muck boots will keep going as they are so hideously expensive!
 
I've had a pair of Aigle Parcours for 7 years and they are fab. They get worn most days throughout the winter for mucking out etc. Would definitely buy another pair if I had to replace them.
 
The stories of having boots for years is really good, unfortunately the boots you have are not made to the same quality as they were when you bought them. Rubber is substituted for pvc/vinyl & other man made products so their construction & quality is seriously compromised. Basically no one makes quality boots anymore so those of you who still have old good boots look after them because they are irreplacable! :(
 
I've got a pair of 4 year old decathlon wellies. They are neoprene lined and were in the hunting/fishing section. Cost me £40 but still going strong.
 
I don't know what you people do with your neoprene boots! I've been using muck boots for years, and never had one split or leak. What limits their lifetime is usually that I wear out the lining at the heel until I have sticky rubber rubbing my socks and creating holes! That said, the current ones I have (Grubs brand) have better tread and a different lining which aren't showing any wear yet a year in. So, hopefully these will last longer!
Our horses are out 24/7 though. Does make me wonder if a stable environment with wet bedding plays a role?
