...to clean my brushes? occasionally will give them a bash on the wall, pull out bits of mane and tail, or get a rubber curry and give it a flick out!

Anyone clean their grooming kit brushes? do you do it regularly?
How do you clean them? (bit of a yard dispute ;) )

Thanks :)

if I've been somewhere else with them I give them a wash, or if there have been any skin conditions..not that I share brushes but you never know.. if none of the above I wash and sort out about once every couple of months, when I remember :D I get a big washing up bowl full of hot water, dunk them in, then use gentle antibacterial hand soap and then rinse twice more in warm water and leave to dry. xx

I use a different one of mine for quarter markers everytime I go racing so they all get a water dunk every other week. The plastic curry comb gets dunked every time as I use it to water the manes and top of tails to make it easier to plait them.

Never unless used on another horse(and thats so unlikely).Oh and I dont wash my horse a lot either.A spray off with the hose if he,s hot and sweaty but that is all.

The brushes get a bath when a horse does, not much point bathing nag and then using dirty brushes.
Or if a brush gets muddy or really dirty, then it gets a quick rinse and scrape.

I obviously don't use my brushes enough as they haven't been washed for a lonnngggg time and still look relatively clean :o :o

I wash them when I bathe my horse generally. No sense brushing a clean horse with a dirty brush.

As for bathing, I generally bathe her a couple of times a year - more if she gets into something nasty.

Clean brushes? You mean other then pulling excess hair out?

Erm . . . . . .

Well put it this way I've had Bella 2 years and not washed the brushes yet :o Oh dear maybe I wash the body brush? Always do the curry comb every time I use it though :D

This So probably done 5 or 6 times a year

ahahahaha same!! i'd forgotten such things had existed until the other day when i realized that mine were at SOME point coloured, not dusty brown, then i contemplated cleaning them...had a bit more of a think, then got a cuppa tea and forgot about it  ;)

Dishwasher!

Awesome.....:D

Mine get a thorough good cleaning in the summer hols, a bucket of red-hot water and detergent and disinfectant.....the holidays are almost here, so it will happen very soon once more.....

Each horse has it's own kit anyway, and their coats are lovely and shiney, I'm sure we don't have any skin conditions I've missed.....

Dishwasher?

Sorry, but washing your horses grooming kit in your dishwasher is disgusting:eek:

I used to work as Ann Summers rep, and someone once asked me if they could put their purchase in the dishwasher to clean it! After I'd wiped the tears of laughter away, I sold her some Buzz-Fresh wipes instead! lmao :D
