The plan was to breed from my mare to try and get something a little bigger (she's 14.2hh) to event, so putting her in foal this year. However she's started cribbing more frequently and though it doesn't bother me I'd prefer the next foal not to do it also. Plus we weren't guaranteed a bigger foal, things could go wrong and she's been going so well recently we then decided maybe it would be more sensible to buy a youngster instead...
Mum saw a yearling for sale, but phoned up and found out he'd been sold. As luck would have it, his full brother had been born a day earlier...
After a bit of umming and ahhing as we were buying unseen we bit the bullet, and this wee guy is coming to join us in September/October time!
He's been named Baxter - we don't know whether to change it to Dexter, keep it or call him Gulliver (which is one of the names we had for Ruby's foal if she'd had one) so opinions would be appreciated!
