I'm on the look out for a new dog to keep my other company and basically become part of the family. My boy Heffner was a rescue, he is a 3 year old poodle cross border terrier, very very fast/active, very hyperactive, enthusiastic, has loads of stamina, always manic, running about like a loon, never ever tired, very very smart.
I'm looking for another dog so they can play together, I'm keen to rescue or rehome but not keen on ending up with a dog that has issues from a past life which may cause trouble in the future. My personal preference would be something like a bedlington (my favourite) or a poodle cross something like a whippet. I live on a yard with horses, sheep and cats.
Any advice or suggestions on where to look or other similar breed ideas?

German Shorthaired Pointer would love that life! (and would keep up with your boy all day long! They LOVE to play!)

They have a breed rescue on their site.

i got my rescue from manytears! he was only 8 weeks old and is fantastic! they get quite a lot of puppies and young dogs who will learn to lead the life you would like the dog to. mine has no issues at all, just going through the normal puppy growing up stages! keep watching the website it is updated virtually every day.

Thats great :) I will keep checking the site :) Thank you

echo the German short haired pointer recommendation- mine is ridiculously full of energy, never stops, is outdoors in all weathers etc.

he is easy to train, very loyal and as the name suggests has a lovely short coat which hardly sheds at all so very low maintenance.

i've just been on a lovely holiday to Devon with mine where he was hiking in the hills for 4 hours in the morning and after a 30 minute sleep at lunch was raring to go to the beach in the afternoon for swimming and playing fetch :)

lol! Mine isn't quite that up for it! If outdoors and/or play isn't on offer he snores in the corner (or with his head on my lap as it is this precise moment!)

I always browse the Dogs Trust website - one day I shall get a dog of my own! Sadly can't due to working 9 to 5 so make do with my parent's dogs but have just got my own house so want my own dog :-( I think I will either go to Dogs Trust or a local rescue.

My friend's bitch (spaniel) has just had a litter though so, if you want one of them......! Lol
