remember my post about finding a tampon left on top of my horses new bed? The latest weird happening was my turning up last night to find my bridle and riding boots dumped in the corner of my stable. We have tack lockers which are basically a section of the stable divided of with wooden slats for air circulation and a door in the middle which in my case is padlocked. If the bridle was left on the floor of the stable I would have possibly thought I was being a dope and had left it out overnight. However, my long riding boots are only used for shows and lessons.
The bridle was hung in its zipped up bridle bag on the back wall of the tack locker along with a hunting nose band for shows) and my breastplate. The bridle bag was pushed on top of my feed bin and the bridle and nose band were dumped on the floor in the stable. The breastplate has disappeared. The riding boots were left unzipped on the stable floor on top of my bridle and the boot bag was on some straw in the locker with the top unzipped, the boot jacks were pushed down the other side of the locker.
I checked how some one could get my stuff out as the locker was padlocked and I think some one was reached through the slats pulled my bridle bag of the wall and then pulled the boot bag of its hook and unzipped the top of it and pulled the boots through the slats and pushed the boot jacks back inside the locker afterwards.
Clearly it was not my horse as he couldn't unzip a bag and remove the boot jacks!
All I can think is that some one either:
a. wanted to try my stuff
b. borrowed it to ride their horse/pony with and then dumped it back in my stable minus the breastplate, or
c. was attempting theft and was disturbed.
d. more worryingly it is some one acting out of spite.
I know it must have happened during the day as my horse is turned out by some one I trust 100% and they would have had to stand on my bridle and boots to put my horse magnetic boots away!
MY boots cost over £120 when new but wouldnt fetch much second hand, my bridle was £100+ and its now going to cost me around £50 to get a new leather breastplate. Two weeks ago some stole all my horses first aid kit so I had to fork out £30.
I informed the yard owner who said she had been at the farm all day, no one was up , she was mystified and could only assume we had a ghost!!!
There are a lot of young teenagers on the yard so I am guessing it might be one of them seeing if my type of boots suited them as they dont strike me as light fingered. I know that I am considered 'unusual' as I have nice tack, ride in jodhs and had a new saddle which i got a MSF to adjust to fit twice in one year. So it might be an envy thing (I Hasten to add there are others including some of the younger horse owners who have quite stunning stubben and cliff barnsby tack)
My horse is one of only 2 left in at night now as the rest have been put onto 24/7 summer grazing so I had a sleepless night worrying about what some one might do to him. Its so frustrating I like the yard. like the y/o and y/m and the hacking is amazing but this is quite stressful. I also now have a business car full of smelly horsey gear as darent leave it at the yard!
