Hiya,
I’m needing a new pair of country boots that are long for the winter and unsure which ones to get. I currently have a pair of calf length Harry Hall ones and love them. They are on the cheaper end of the scale so I know they won’t last forever but they are very comfortable and I can wear them all day every day, on long dog walks and wet weather etc. I also like the fact that I can re wax them to get out scuffs on the leather.

I tried on a pair of Dublin River III yesterday and they actually hurt my feet on the outside sole due to the hardness of them. That was just from walking around my house for a few minutes.
Is this something anyone has experienced before? Is it something that goes away when they soften a bit?
It seemed it was due to hardness of the sole on the boot rather than the leather itself.
I would really like a pair of Dublins but not if they are going to hurt my feet so also now looking at Brogini Malito and Shires Moretta.
can’t afford Dubarrys ??
Thanks ??

I had Dublins, which I’ve had before, and they were so uncomfortable that I sold them on. I have Toggi now and they are much better. The insole is cushioned and they are much more roomy for my wide feet. I did like Ariat, but they were too narrow.

I’ve had numerous pairs of Dublin’s over the years and have always found them really comfortable. Have you tried cushioned insoles? I find Mountain Horse boots can be a bit uncomfortable at first and tend to pop some squishy insoles in them, which makes them lovely and comfortable so might work...

Thanks for all the replies. Would love some Ariats but I’m a size 9 so wouldn’t be able to get a ladies pair. I tried on a few Dublins found them on the small size, their size 43 (9) I think is really a 42 (8.5)
I’m going with Broginis and hope they last a while. They are comfortable and I can wax the leather to get any scuffs out which I like cos that has helped my Harry Halls to stay looking good.
good to know other people like Broginis as well :)

I have had a couple of pairs of Dublins and Catesbys over the years and now have Broginis, and would say they have all been uncomfortable at the beginning, and just as I'm beginning to wonder if I will revert to wellies, they seem to soften overnight and are comfortable until they fall apart on my feet. So there is a definite wearing in thing, which for me has been the same across all brands/ models.

Some companies say a 41 is a 7.5-8 and most of the conversion sites on tinterwebs say the same. I always said I was 6.5-7 and almost always wear 40-41 (never 42) so it makes no sense.

Speaking of wellies and size 9 again trying to find neoprene wellies that aren’t £100+ in a ladies size 9 is difficult. I recently had Cotswolds men size 9 but I felt they were a bit big and started rubbing away the lining on the back of the heel after a few months of wear. Are there any larger feet ladies here? I’m now considering GS equestrian wellies but maybe trying the mens size 8 if the mens wellies come up bigger cos of course they don’t do a ladies size 9 in wellies.
