New Puppy Alert!

I had a wonderful Grippet - whippet x greyhound - that I rescued from being drowned in a bucket. The owners were going on holiday, and didn't want the expense of boarding her whilst they were away.
She was brilliant - if a little mad - perfectly trainable to recall (after a few necessary circle zoomies) and was a dear companion for many years. An excellent hot water bottle, as well.

They are quite headstrong, although one of the loveliest dogs I’ve ever had was a saluki X greyhound X deerhound and he was an absolute gentleman. Tigra is so far (on day 2 :p) very good.

Highly intelligent, highly independent evil genius dogs 🤣 Dobby can do back flips, runs 3.58 seconds in flyball but would rather do zoomies than come back to you. Gives zero damns if I leave (I have literally driven off the flyball field before now at training) and only does anything if he sees the value for him.

Full saluki, or a cross?

Oh dear....:oops:. Well, we'll deal with what we get, our last one was a lovely lad and so far (day 2) she's been super. Had her first walk on the lead, out in the forest park with the other two (who are being really snooty), got a bit sick in the car but other than that it's all been good. Started on day one with learning her name and recall, and she got that straight away. I've forgotten how innocent puppies are, our last one was about 8 years ago, if not more.
 
My three lurchers are all saluki crosses but very different from each other. I did a massive amount of training with my saluki x whippet, puppy training, pet training, agility training, gun dog training, and he ended up well socialised and responsive to all commands. The other two were older with chequered pasts but fit in really well as long as we manage their activities and environment. The only rescue I would not have kept though I loved him dearly was a dog who looked pure bred. He was a fantastic pet in the home though hyper active but so independent you could not trust him an inch outdoors. His super acute alertness and prey drive also meant he was a loose cannon. Again he only came to me as a two year old with no early training. Cortez‘s pup has every chance of growing into a well rounded civilised dog as I am sure her training skills are well honed.
 
Fabulous!! I love a Saluki and the one I knew best was always treated like an 'ordinary' dog (his owners had not heard of the Saluki reputation) and he just behaved like one. But faster and far more glamourous lol!! Lucky pup. :)
 
Oh how have I missed this. She is just gorgeous! I’ve not met any Saluki X before, but the Saluki I knew was obviously unaware of the reputation and was a gent to deal with.
