Hi, first post on this part of the forum, so feeling a bit out of my depth, be gentle!
I wanted to know how tricky/easy it is to breed a foal when starting from nothing - I have a gelding, and know enough to know that isn't a good start
I've always loved Arabs (older type, stocky with wedge head rather than dished) and have now also experienced some lovely Andalusians. I have ridden and really liked a Hispano Arabe, and don't know a great deal other than there is some sort of Stud book in Spain.
There don't seem to be many around, so have been considering the possibilities of breeding.
So how easy/difficult would it be to find an Arab broodmare, and breed a foal from an Andalusian sire?
I have NO previous experience in this area. (But do have experience of bringing a youngster on)
Also this would be a one-off to breed myself a horse, not to become a breeder.
Am I crazy to even consider it?
