OK all...I have managed to broker a deal with my sister and parents to get me a brand new shiny IFOR 511!! my question for you is are there any extras on your trailer that you couldn't live without......or are there some you wish you never bothered with?>

I had the front ramp put on the passenger side which made it a lot easier to unload the bigger horse which would always travel on thw driver side.

That's the only thing I would get again, the other extras I got where good but I could have lived without.

thanks for replying! just trying to suss out if I should go for things like the built in tack locker! although thinking it would be just as easy to keep the saddle ect. in the boot of the car!
never thought about the ramp but it is probably a good idea to get it on that side anyway!

I got mine second hand, although its only a few months old. If I had chosen from new, I would have gone for a rear light at the top.
I'm not sure about the tack locker. It does look useful but is it not open and therefore your saddles are very nickable?

Rog, I will be sitting me test in April so hope to pass then! I have been informed that if I get the 511 I would have to have it downgraded because my car can only tow 2500kg and the gross weight of the 511 is 2700! this isn't a problem for me!

a lady on my yard has the tack locker and it only just fits one jumping saddle in and is quite bulky really- i wouldnt bother personally. atleast you can leave your car locked and safe you cnat lck your trailer!!
Ps good luck for your test!

No legal need to do that

there is no law or rule which says that the recommended manufacturer towing capacity must be able to cope with the plated MAM of a trailer

An internet myth is going around with this nonsense and has been doing so for years although I have managed to dispel the majority of them on various forums

If anyone says other than what I do then ask them to show you the law which of course will never happen

As all weight laws are the same across all categories then if it was a law virtually all LGVs hitching up to trailers would need those trailers up and down plating each time !!

One hour road drive - includes the independent drive and is done virtually the same as the basic car test

The trailer must now be loaded with 600 kgs of sand bags or a 1000 kgs water IBC for the test so most companies are now training with that weight in the trailer

I had the tack locker in mine and tbh it wasn't worth it. It fitted pony saddles in but would not take my horse saddles. I ended up just using it for rugs in the end.

I did have the high level rear break light which I guess was a good safety feature.

Dont get ifor 511 as they are not what they used to be. Lots of people havbe as choice at that price point is lim, ited but they suffer from lack of build quality and plastic fittings.

i had a new 511 last year , didnt have any extras so havent missed anything lol
i love it , build quality is great IMO , much better than my old cheval trailer
the dealers i bought mine from said the series 1 had some problems with fibreglass front and the interior roof but the series 2 has metal front and ive had no problems with mine so far
