Well me & Major went off to the NCH meet today, it was a 5 mile hack there and when we left the weather wasn't too bad. But by the time we were half way there, oh my!

It was absolutely hooning it down and blowing a gale, I have never been so wet on a horse EVER.

Anyway. a couple of mulled wines at the meet and once we got going I was okay. But did keep my tweed coat on over the top of my jacket.

Wasn't that exciting a day, had some good canters but no jumping (not that I would have jumped out of this ground!) but Major was awesome as always. We had a really nice time :) only stayed out for an hour and a half then made our way back, where the quantity of rain became obvious as everywhere had flooded.

Some photos -

Then later on we celebrated Nimby's (my first pony, now retired) 30th birthday!

Just about drying out now, boots, hat and saddle are drying by the fire and various clothing is scattered on radiators.

Halpy new year. Glad that you had a fab time at the meet even though you got soaked & that you celebrated your pony's birthday milestone. No matter what we're doing with our horses think we are spending lots of time drying stuff on radiators or in front off a warm fire & drinking lots of hot drinks for a warm.

I was going to come and follow today but it was so wet I gathered it would be meet and run! I am in your area too and it is flooded up here. Was there many turn out for the meet? Chipping Camden is usually a popular day.

And happy birthday nimby, I remember him from your days on another forum:)

Looks fun despite the rain!!
He/she has a real look of my horse. Slightly different face markings but just really similar in lots of ways - which means your horse is gorgeous, however I am slightly biased! :)

Please don't dry your tack by the fire! It needs to dry slowly in a warm place (and the condition the hell out of it!) :)
Rather you than me though with that weather! I took one look outside today and gave mine the day off lol!

I plaited up and everything last night ready to go out! Come this morning we already had a river running down the road and trees blowing everywhere so decided best not risk it! Glad I didnt go but coblet was miserable all day because I took his plaits out and he didnt get to go anywhere! :( I promised him lots of hunting when its a bit dryer!!

The foot followers were mostly huddled under that big building on the right hand side slightly up the high street, and I don't blame them! Less than usual as expected but good none the less. :) Thank you, was that NR?

Just a little bit wet then! ;)

Happy near year to you, Major and Oakley and happy birthday Nimby. xx

Happy New Year to you too. Thank you :)

Aw thank you, I do love him to bits, and also think he's gorgeous so yours must be too :D

My saddle is actually by my dining room table, it's not actually by the fire, for ease of thread writing it was in front of the fire with everything else :D but thank you anyway. :)

Wow I am so impressed, I couldn't even bring myself to go to the meet on foot! Well done u and major!

It was pretty hideous wasn't it? It wasn't bad when I left the yard, then half way home it eased up!

I'll be honest it would take me an awful lot to stop me going once I'm plaited up lol! Mind you at one point I ws fully considering trotting up the high street and going home. Was okay so long as you weren't stood still! Hope you get out soon, am planning on going a few times this month and just hope we get some better weather. Boxing day was gorgeous weather!

Great pics and well done for your commitment. Love the 30th birthday pics too!

All hunting around here is cancelled due to horrendous weather :-(

Well done you! Mine behaves like a complete twit in the rain unless she's got a sheet on so I'm very impressed you managed to hack anywhere, let alone actually hunt!
