No one started the thread again :p
I'm assuming everyone is still in a post-xmas coma.

Anyone got plans for the weekend?

We are just back from borrowing trainer's arena again. I took him on Tuesday and he was a complete tit, the builders had gone but the horses had just been moved into the new stables next door so there was lots of neighing and general disorder ;) Anyway today he was absolutely on bestest behaviour, actually started to feel like a grown up horse with no spooking (well not a ridiculous amount anyway:p) and letting me really ride him forward into the contact properly. The canter is way behind but I think he's learned the concepts now to make the canter improve quite fast if I get enough opportunities to practice.

God I wish I had a nice arena like that to ride in all the time, no hedge of doom or pheasants or other deadly distractions... ho hum!

Will pop back a few more times over the next week in lieu of a show to go to. Hoping we can nudge the canter on enough to get out to a prelim next time ;)

Have fun all

starting to look less weedy at last

I've started already with an amazing arena xc lesson this afternoon... We jumped lots of big jumps..... ie 80cm plus ??

Then I have a clinic on Sat/Sun. One session of flat/poles and one jumping. Fionn will be glad to have a day off by Monday ??

Can't wear my new chilli red pad though, as the matching ears haven't arrived yet ??

I led Blue out for our yard Christmas Day hack, and she strode out completely sound! I'm not rushing to get back on board, but the plan is to start taking her for longer walks in hand and see how she does. We started today, with a brisker mile than I was planning. I think she's missed getting out and about, because she was happily marching along with her enormous ears pricked.

Today I had a jump with Chill. We worked on a double and jumping fences individually from the double on an angle. I've decided I don't like jumping on my own any more, I felt a bit insecure without someone on the ground there if I hurt myself. Also, what a pain to have to adjust the jumps getting off and back on again!

We went back to ride indoors again. More productive work, I'm enjoying riding him at the moment where it was becoming a bit of a white knuckle ride at home ?
Hoping that he'll be able to transfer his new knowledge from indoor to outdoor work ;)

Kira is trotting laps ? took me a few minutes to remember how to ride her ? she's soooooo different to Darcy and she's been stupidly hot about everything. Today I was able to get her to stretch a bit and settle into a rhythm. Onwards and upwards.

Checking in. Nowt planned except hacking, which has gone swimmingly well. (Excuse the pun, its v wet underfoot out hacking)
Poor B Fuzzy has only had boxing day off and the previous Friday in 3 weeks.
Hacking with a chum tomorrow, might arrange arena hire up the road on Monday as canter transitions are improving out, so want so see how circles might go now

Well, I got a flying lesson on xmas day, but he worked beautifully thursday. This morning we discovered we can use canter as an evasion when the trot work gets too hard - I'm quite happy with that as canter is a work in progress and to use it to escape means he must be seeing it as an easier option now.
Tomorrow we have a 70 to 80 jump clinic, we've never been over coloured poles together and I measured 80 last night - looks big from the ground so I'm slightly concerned I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I've jumped bigger but I'm out of practise. He's jumped bigger I've seen photos, so we can both do. If he comes out like he did at somerford a couple of weeks ago I'm sure we'll be fine ?.
And it's a trial run for a dressage at the venue in a couple of weeks so even if the jumping is crock as long as he's not a twonk its positive (that's my story and I'm sticking with it)

Izzy hacked Deedee out yesterday - woop woop!!! She suddenly seems so much better so we are now cutting back on the oil and rations. She was totally chilled. Today I moved Amber to join Deedee at the luxury new pad. She has a mahoosive 16X16 stable. Schooled her in their (our!!) lovely big arena and she was angelic which is good as yesterday she had ants in her pants and was a witch! Then I hacked out on Amber with Izzy on Deedee. The first of many happy hacks I hope.

Great news AP.....

Encouraging news MP...

My xc clinic yesterday was brilliant, and polework clinic today was fab too. V hard work, so I hope Fionn still has some energy left tomorrow to jump.

New pony is going brilliantly so far, but he was very unfit so we are sticking to either an hour's slow hack, or 15 min in the school for the time being...

On a very long bus journey and couldn’t resist popping in for a horsey fix! A very different type of weekend.. diving Komodo with these amazing 5 metre wide Manta Rays. Missing Boggle lots though and a definite slight pang for Boxing Day hunting...for a split second ;)

Trying not to be too glum that Figs x rays were far from positive with changes that may not be reversable nor indeed recoverable. Only time will tell but it’s not looking good :(

Oh so sorry to hear the latest Fig update, that's so sad. Rooni looks to be coming along nicely though.
Our clinic was not quite as enthusiastically received as I'd hoped. We just sort of went a bit shut down in each other, he was more interested in getting to hang out with his new mates and I just sort of stopped riding him and went a bit defensive. We've learned plenty though and we'll go again, onwards and upwards.
