New Years Weekend Plans

I had a 30 minute school on Mr D this morning. I can "just about" manage the double reins whilst wearing my wrist splint but carrying a schooling whip proved difficult with a little finger that is not really working! However, he was a complete sweetie, stayed "mostly" in front of the leg and just looked after me, which is really all I needed.

RL - Spotty looks lovely, how exciting to have a new New Year horse :)

I actually rode Chilli at the weekend - first time after his month off. It's always an interesting experience seeing how a 'new' (or in this case, 4yo after his longest break of the year) will be and he was fab, despite having to deal with tinsel as well ?. I had intended to leave him out for January but he's piling on the pounds, so he'll start coming in again during the day on Friday and we'll do more hacking and maybe some groundwork this month.

I also had another schoolmaster lesson last week and asked to work on the basics, which turned into a position lesson mostly without stirrups - it burnt off a few of the Christmas calories! It was great as I've not done any no-stirrup work since my loan horse was sold in June. My stomach muscles felt it the next day, I've gone from almost no experience of flying changes to doing a 4-loop serpentine without pedals...

Thanks @j1ffy - he's going to be a slow boil I think. Looks acts and feels more like 4 year old than a 7 year old but that's OK, we're in no rush
Your lesson sounds fab

I haven't been on H&H for a while but Buzzy is all sorted and ready to be worked again, my lovely boyfriend bought me a Pivo for Christmas and i'm dying to try it! Hopefully will get on board today. Buzz is absolutely huge so needs to start working again!
