Newbie Alert!

SURELY ONE PERSON AT LEAST IS GOING TO Mention the lack of suitable attire and being very pregnant and sat on a horse? ;-)

I actually found it amazing that we got to the 2nd page before anyone commented!

...and what has it got to do with anyone but the rider?

ADULT - FREEDOM TO CHOOSE.

If I wanted to ride naked, hatless in a headcollar backwards down the High Street...I would.

Because I am an adult and it's MY CHOICE.

Welcome to the forum OP!

:D

I would firstly like to say, welcome, super neat bump, horse looks fab but sorry you are pregnant. OK, I have nothing against anyone riding when they are pregnant - go on fill your boots but Dragonslayer - no - I disagree - baby to think of here. Please, if you are going to ride when you are pregnant please please please take your's and your baby's safety seriously and wear suitable clothing and a hat. Otherwise - best of luck ;-)

Welcome to the forum! I am kinda Newbie too, have always been on german forums before.

Lovely horse and gosh how on earth did you get on the horse with the bump? LOL. I can remember struggling getting in and out of the car ...:D

Is this not the correct way of every day dismounting even for those not pregnant?!?!?!?!?!.....i mean one has to keep one's iphone screen safe as opposed to leaning on it against the pommel when it is kept in your pocket :D :D :D

Absolutely... stops you squashing your cigarettes too - and (on one somewhat interesting occasion) getting the button of ones show jacket attached to a plait - on a 4yr old who promptly had heart failure. Never realised I could sew such resilient plaits, or that Mears dressage jackets had their buttons so firmly attached. Was so hysterical with laughter by the time I finally disengaged myself from said horse that I promptly fell off...

I rode when I was pregnant, and I know many more who have. I also rode my bicycle, drove my car, and many other things....

Are pregnant women to stop everything they enjoy?

I actually don't have a problem with her riding; surely it has to be better keeping active during pregnancy?

I cannot agree with her choice not to wear a hat though, but hey, that's just my opinion!

..but who says we need to comment when it has bugger all to do with anyone else? I wear a hat, wouldn't not wear one, but would probably hop on to have a pic without.

But is that anyones business but mine?

I agree. I'm currently trying for a baby I can safely say I'll be riding both my horses including my green 5 yr old in the school or around the paddocks as both quiet until my bump gets in the way. However I will wear my hat and proper shoes as I always do.
No matter how safe a horse is you can never predict what will happen
Same with mucking out and poo-picking. When I cant ride i'll lunge and my friend to ride.

I'l still work, drive do housework as if i dont noone else will

I don't think forums would really work if people weren't allowed to state their opinions.... 'Controversial' posts often spark some useful discussion.

I don't think anyone has been unpleasant on this thread and maybe, just maybe the 'please wear a hat' comments will mean more to the poster than all the 'pretty pony' comments. Who knows?

Have you had a baby before?;)

And welcome new poster!:D

Exactly like i said i don;t think its the most cleverest thing in the world to do, and think really even coming off clumsily at such an advanced stage could cause a massive haemorrhage.... no hat could kill mother and baby blah blah, i didnt comment cos its not my business.. and to be honest i don't really care,. but to be told we should go say hello and someone is disappointed is daft!

End of the day, her life, her baby, her horse... none of our business and its getting a bit boring now.

I have a friend who has just had a baby and she intends on hacking with baby in a sling, again not my business so kept me gob shut!.. god i am being boring now,,, and i just dont do boring!

DD-couldn't have put it better myself! I do wish people would be careful when pregnant. I stopped riding once I found out I was pregnant, gave the horses a year off, trying to explain to an exracer to be careful as there's a baby inside me just wouldn't have worked!! LOL! I still did everything else though, mucking out etc and my baby was 6 weeks early and in special care unit for 2 weeks! I'd definitely be more careful next time! I'd still keep active but some things just aren't worth risking, (poo picking didn't need doing really, harrowing would've been better for 9 months!).

How does poo picking and mucking out affect the baby? Not something I'd heard of before...

It's a very, very long time since I was pregnant, and at the time I wasn't allowed anywhere near farms, horses and pretty much anything else. So this is all new to me.

Oh I see. I thought it was to do with some infection I'd not heard of!

Lol! No, I don't think there's anything wrong with these things, I mean when you've got horses you can't just stop caring for them (unless you're lucky enough to have a groom etc). I just meant that some things don't need doing as meticulously as they were done pre pregnancy such as poo picking! As for the mucking out I wish I'd taken my time and done it in stages, instead of trying to do it as quick as I did before! I thought I was indestructable but baby coming early was a big shock to the system and too late a wake up call!

Welcome.

I hope your other half will be able to explain to your baby why mummy is now a vegetable because she was too selfish and stupid to wear a hat! Bloody hell...

I should say I dont object to riding whilst pregnant, I dont think its any more dangerous than crossing the road, walking down the stairs or driving. But, my god...
