Afternoon all would like to say hello and introduce myself and my 1 yr 2 month old Beagle Daisy.
Would like to jump in with a couple of questions if I may,
Abit of background:
I have had my Beagle since 8 months we took her in after she was being bullied by her mother and copying her mothers bad behaviour. She has been a brillient dog. I must point out that I spent over a year wanting a Beagle and did the research, I knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park. (no pun intended) She is very well behaved and the behaviours she was crated for have never materialised in out home. Because of this we decided to get rid of the crate. She has amazing recall for a Beagle I wont say comes everytime as she does get distracted but only by other puppy's!. She has learnt very quickly commands that we have wanted to teach her and gets on well with one of my cats. She is very good around my chickkens and yes I have trusted her a few minutes alone with them. (looking through the window I may add)
I also have a 4, 5 and 9 year old to add to the mix.
Right sorry about that my questions are,
She has not come into season yet and shows no signs of it either. We have taken her to the vet and are going to spay her but thought we would wait her first season then do it. How much longer do you think it will take and would you spay now? I'm absolutly dreading the rest period after as she is so active so keep putting it of.
My other question is she has started in the last few weeks to wee each night by the front door. She has plenty of excercise and I have started taking her out for an extra late night walk where she will wee but still dos the wee at home. My husband even got up at 4am to let her out and she still did it in the house same place.
Last question, she is a true Beagle and loves to chase down feathery things not too intrested in squirrles and rabbits. I was wondering if it would be okay to cultivate this and teach her to hunt. Someone else I mentioned this too said it would be dangerous to encourage her?
Sorry it's so long many thanks.
