I am just posting to praise NFU - just had a cheque through this morning to settle my Loss of Animal claim.
Boo was insured for £2k and I was fully expecting them to quibble that value (aren't all insurance companies notorious for that?!) but they have paid out IN FULL within days of receiving the forms.

They have paid £3.5K in vets fees on Boo, and £5k in vets fees on Rage within the last 12months - I can't fault them.

So yes, mixed emotions as obviously I would rather have not had to claim Loss of Animal at all, but very, very relieved that I haven't had to have the stress of haggling with the insurance over a price for my dead horse.

THANKYOU NFU

Glad you had a positive experience with them too. A few years ago my 2month old horse trailer got stolen, and they didn't quibble at all about paying out the full amount we had the trailer insured for. We then insured out next trailer with them and they didn't increase the premium or anything. Was very impressed with them. Needless to say I have both my horses and my horsebox insured with them.

so sorry to hear about your horse but really glad NFU made the claim as pain free as possible for you... and within a couple of days of receiving forms in fantastic! xx

I have had to claim several times this year

(including an emergency admittance to Liphook over xmas and they were so efficient even with the bank holidays) and they have been fantastic, I am so pleased with their service. They are truly a pleasure to deal with!

They have been fabulous when I have dealt with them previously.

Reading this has filled me with some confidence over the claim that has been submitted for Sid as this was for loss of animal and the associated vets fees.

ive got to agree with you. The NFU are great.

They told us originally our pony didnt meet the BEVA guidelines so they wouldnt pay out for loss of animal (she was PTS due to serious problems with her hocks and stifles) we accepted this and said we would still be PTS. they rang up about 2-3wks after the vet had been and asked how Sasha was doing. We told them she had been PTS, they apologised and said they would close the claim. We found out after another trip to see out vet they had been in touch with him about her, a few days later a cheque appeared.

my other major claim was nearly £5k of vets fees, without quibble, i then made a claim for LOU, they called to query her value, asked a few questions, told me id under insured her so would pay out full value. again not long after i received a cheque for over £3k.

Nothing but high praise for NFU.

Hear hear!

They paid Loss of Animal out on 2 of ours with no questions asked. We kept them fully informed along the way, & when I had to make that awful call they were very sensitive indeed. No quibbles at all.
I can't recommend them enough either.

I think NFU are fabby. Over the years have had all sorts of claims with them and they have all been hassle free and super speedy.

Also concur - Alice had major surgery on both back hocks, and aside from the couple of hundred that I had to pay, they paid for all of the surgery, transport and for remedial shoeing for a year.

Not difficult to deal with, payments prompt. A pleasure to deal with, and I would recommend them to anyone.

They got my vote too. Never ever had a problem with them, efficient, friendly and don't load their premiums after claims either. Superb company. I too wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

we moved all our horses and Horsebox to them 2 years ago when we were very disappointed in another pet insurance company. its nice to know that they are good at paying their claims.

Mine are insured with them too. When I had Alfie put down several years ago, the claim was settled so quickly and they were so helpful and sympathetic. I wouldnt deal with anyone else. And again, I would recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic people

Also had great experiences with NFU - prompt payments, no quibbling and easy to get hold of.

Now if only they weren't one our biggest rivals at work (I work in insurance!) I might like them a bit more.

They are great for horse insurance, but I hate how competitive they are with HGV insurance customers that I'm trying to snag!

Same here! I've got both horses and my covered. One of my mares is 6 months into treatment for arthritis and they have paid all the bills as they have gone along, happy for her to be sent to Edinburgh Vet School and when I changed vets so needed another assesment, paid for the new assesment. When I was at Edinburgh the horse box broke down. They sent a recovery for my box and a box to come and pick me and my horse up. It's about 200 miles and they paid happily. Always very helpfull when I phone to. It ake such a difference to know that there is one less thing to worry about.

I used to have rider insurance with them.. then i stopped riding my friends horse (this was 2 or 3 years ago) so I cancelled my insurance with them, and still do this day I get 'offers' and mail through the post from them- i got one the other day asking me if i wanted insurance on my house. I'M 14 YRS OLD! lol, so my mum phoned up and told them to stop harrasing us with mail.

But, as nothing dangerous or anything happened when i was insured with them, i didn't really have an experience of how good they were, apart from the rubbish i get through the post now. lol.

I am not a fan at the moment by any stretch of the imagination! However in the past they have always been good. It has been bad enough loosing my horse but battling for his insruance money is not at all fun.

Aww I wish I could be insured with them as they have such a good reputation! Unfortunately because I had a large claim going through for Mazzie when I got Genie they won't insure me, even though it was due to a freak accident that I had to make the claim! Hey ho...

I was insured with them for the horse I had pts last September. Although he was insured for loss of use, they wouldn't pay out on it. TBH, I could've argued the toss with them about it but I didn't want the horse hanging on in pain whilst I did so. They paid out on every other bill presented to them, they came to approx £500.
I came across problems when I go a new one and wanted to insure with them but they wouldn't as I couldn't prove her breeding. They wanted to be sure she wasn't related to my previous horse. So, unfortunately I had to shop round for another insurer.
