The exact saddle I want sold on ebay for about £400 a couple of weeks ago. Gutted that I missed it!! If anyone spots one of them with the above measurements, let me know!!
I've got a 17.5" MW GP Ideal (Its not for sale!!) and I love it. Very comfortable and has fitted my last 3 horses (have had proper saddler out to check, he has had to tweak the stuffing a bit, that is it.
Albions seem pretty forgiving too but I think they are more than Ideals.
TBH I think of that as quite cheap.
I have just started thinking about a dressage saddle for one of mine he's maturing and soon I don't think any of my tack room saddles will do much longer.
It's going to cost nearly £4000 for what I think I want and I could spend more.
It's scary.
TBH for a new leather saddle - under 1K I class as budget, 1-1.5K is 'normal', 1.5K-2.5K is what I would consider a reasonable performance/competition saddle to cost and 2.5K plus is expensive.
That said, it makes far more sense to buy a good condition, not very old secondhand saddle.
For a good quality GP you should budget circa £600, for a performance saddle 1-1.2K
It's a decent GP I am looking for for the time being.
