Nick Gauntlett Gossip

[ QUOTE ]
Easy! here is what to do... find yourself a nice single event rider (straight or gay) if gay - even more gossip
grin.gif

Then just sit and wait for the gossip to start - trust me should only take a couple of events....

Hehe sorted *off to find gay event rider*

because the tabloids are really going to want to write a news breaking story on "Nick Gauntlett International Event rider"
I really dont think the mail will be knocking down his door for that story...
I think it will be much more popular and interesting to the people on this site, who know what the word "Eventing" means.

Sorry, but absolute BS!! Are you really naieve enough to think that a TV company would put together a show like this which would only appeal to horsey folk?! I suspect not...

It has to have wider appeal to be viable, and as soon as it has wider appeal, yes, I can certainly see the tabloids going for it! Reality TV does their work for them!

Lets hope so! if it gives eventing the publicity it deserves- I am all for it. But they will have the facts once the show has been aired.

If Nick can give the sport more publicity maybe he should be supported instead of being slated... just a thought

I'm not sure where he has been slated?!

Its a reality tv show, the producers will want as much publicity for the programme as possible. Hence Richard & Judy.

Being on a TV programme is not an excuse for people who are fellow competitors and supporters of eventing, to be writing hurtful things about them.

Eventing is a hard sport as we know, and we should support each other not bitch.

I really hope the best thing to come out of this programme is good for the sport and Nick & Lexi. I really hope this thread isnt the best publicity it gets....
I think the idea was to get good publicity, not bad from people who should know better.

Maybe you should read through the threads... I am sure he wont be happy about be accused of being with Lexi for her money or contacts???

Bingo, I have no idea who you are, or what your connection is with Nick, but my god you sound like his mother! Seriously, he's a grown up - if he goes on a reality TV show to find a girlfriend, then he is going to get talked about, and I think he is clever enough to realise that before hand! He's not exactly known for being shy and retiring!

I said she was absolutley loaded with contacts (both of which are true - unless you also think £4.5m isn't a lot of money), nowhere did I say he was only with her because of it - I obviously think a bit more of Nick than you do if that is the way you have interpreted it

I am not his mother!! last time I checked....
I am sure he knows he is going to get talked about- what I disagree with, is people saying things about nick that could upset him or the people connected with him.
I just wanted people to think how they would feel to read untrue things being written about them.... regardless of wether he signed up to a TV Programme or not, he doesnt deserve to have things written about him that could reflect badly on him... does he?

Thats just my opinion

The post was a joke.... I was making fun...
It wasnt you that said it was for the contacts, but it was mentioned later on.
But my point is - do you know her? has she told you she is absolutly loaded with contacts? you only know that through someone else telling you...
Unfortunatley as with all of these forums, people can only interpret things as they read them. I understand that. But is there really any need to write that?
anyway, I think enough said on the subject, as a close friend I am biast, and I care about them both alot.
I hope you enjoy the programme

I think if Nick knew about this, he would love it!
Of course they knew there'd be lots of interest & gossip, and I would think it's quite flattering that people are interested enough to do so.
Perhaps ask him yourselves though - he'd be delighted to tell you i'm sure.

OK - some more facts...
Nick from what I understand did the TV programme to raise the profile for Eventing, as you all probably know it is hard for Event Riders and does not get anything like publicity for Formula 1, Football etc.
He did not think for one minute that he would meet someone this way - as it turns out he has and it has worked - good luck to the both of them they are well matched and make a great couple.
Once the BBC publicity machine kicks in the interviews will start - at the end of the day they both have very interesting jobs which makes good viewing. This is a BBC programme and not Channel 4, ITV and at the end of the day it is not a reality programme either but more of a documentry.
Perhaps Nick could post something on his site to keep you all up to date with it????
I think we all agree on one thing - This industry does not get the publicity it does deserve and if the likes of Nick can raise that then it is a great thing.
If I was Horse and Hound I would want a story before anyone else gets it .....

I think its great - a real chick lit story!
I am sure Nicks Sponsors are overjoyed, eventing is pleased with the publicity, animals are featured and nick gets a girlfriend. I think its a lovely story and lets hope it keeps rolling! Just think if it ends up the alter then it is far more interesting than reading about Zara Phillips!

I’ve known Lexi for many years; she has a heart of gold, and is a very generous and loving person.

How they met in irrelevant!

What I see in Nick and Lexi is a couple that loves each other; and a couple who are building a strong bond together. Nick isn’t perfect and nor is Lexi, but they have clearly clicked and are steadily growing together.

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s’ cover - Lexi’s current profession means she travels a lot and on appearances it’s very glamorous. In reality it’s dammed hard work, she spends a lot of time away and she earns every penny she has. Nick and Lexi have far more in common that anyone, who doesn’t know them both, would realise and it’s remarkable how well they complement one another.

They’re happy together; we should be happy for them too and wish them luck! Relationships are hard enough today without “pseudo” gossip columns, such as this tripe, interfering!

[ QUOTE ]
My mate was stuck in the lorry while they were not talking to each other all the way to Blair!! Imagine that journey of repressed tension!!

[/ QUOTE ]

How can that be true, she was in someone elses lorry??

They are talking about last year at Blair which is true - Nick and her hardly got on ... she was very nasty to Lexi too.

This year at Blair Nicks new head girl "Emily" travelled up in the box. Lexi jetted in from Nice and drove up with Nicks mum and dad.

Duke of Wellington - you are going to have to get used to a lot more 'tripe' once it hits the TV screens and the publicity machine fully rolls into action, if you don't want their relationship discussed I think you had better tell them to pull out of all the TV shows they have signed up for.

What exactly made Lexi want to do this show, to kick start it off in the first place? I understand Nick entering a competion to win a date with her, but why did she want to do it in the first place and in such a public manner?

BTW just for clarification just when has anyone on this thread been horrible about either Nick or Lexi? Also what does Lexi do? She sounds quite exciting

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that's more horrible than anything anyone has said about Nick or Lexi in this thread..

DD, you seem to have hit a nerve, 2 new posters just come on to comment on this? It seems odd people are so protective when no one has said anything nasty. It's even mentioned in this months eventing mag, so the matter is bound to be discussed.

Has anyone stoped to think of how they were towards her, before saying she was nasty towards them!!

When you say last years Blair, you mean '06?? As i was with her for most of this years (and didn't think Lexi was on the scene in '06?), and never saw her being nasty to anyone!!
