No Fill Rug Recommendations

Hi All

My horse has just managed to break her current rainsheet which was a weatherbeeta 1200 no fill rug with the padded wither area, not great timing given the current weather.

Looking for recommendations on 1200 denier no fill rugs that I can buy to replace her current one. The funkier the print the better! She's a chunky 16.2 Friesian/ warmblood so she needs a fairly roomy chest, she lives out with a field shelter and is not clipped in the winter so need something sturdy.

Help! I don't know where to start looking! :)
 
I have a 9yo Amigo rainsheet which is 1200D and still going strong. I don't know if they make 1200D any more though..?

Generally, I rarely see no-fills in 1200D - a shame because I adore all my Premier Equine rugs but can't find a rainsheet from them with a high enough Denier!

Such a shame isn't it. You rarely see any sheets with that denier, 600 denier is pretty useless for dealing with any decent amount of rain. I'll check if I can find any horseware ones.
 
I have a very chunky ID living out and he has a equitheme no fill on . It isn't a 1200 as far as I know but he is always dry underneath .
 
I do rate the Rhinos as being properly waterproof (I had one years ago that was great even in storms until the outer fabric disintegrated) but sadly I've had issues with the stitching on my latest one. The surcingles and front straps are just falling off and it's an almost new rug. Having said that, the stitching on the newer Rambos appears to be good, so maybe worth the extra £££ and get a Rambo (and my very old Rambo Duo hasn't disintegrated so far).
 
Shires Air Motion - it has this padded mesh liner (they call it "3D fabric") that seems to do a great job of allowing a bit of airflow... You know how no-fills in torrential rain can get a bit clammy on the horse's back? It stops that happening! I have just checked the website and it's only 600D, but when my boy has been out in his in non-stop rain all day he's always come in bone dry.
 
All Maxima turnout rugs are 1200 denier. Nice patterns and reasonably priced. Depends what size you need though, as they are sold out of many of the larger sizes in no fill at the moment.
 
I could be wrong but pretty sure my Derby House rainsheet is 1200 denier and it has unicorns on it. They seem to bring out a new print every season.

I don't rug my pony anymore but it used to keep her dry unless it was pouring and/or raining all day relentlessly. But then she didn't have much shoulder at the time and I think this was more due to the rug being a bit big than the rug itself.

Just checked and you're right, nothing in 6'9 for the no fills! What a shame... I'll keep them in mind for future rugs though.
 
I have Rhino and Amigo no fills and much prefer the Amigo Bravo 1200D. I did buy a size larger than measured on recommendation and after trying on my friends. It gives more bum coverage and is light and completely wAterproof. It’s on its done two autumn and spring seasons with no issues.

Much as I love Rambo I reserve spending that amount on the heavier ones and have a 200g, 300g and a Duo.

I’ve got these and I’m really impressed. My ponies live out in them and they haven’t leaked at all.

I am finding the same. I have bought a couple of LW rhinos recently and the front fastenings and surcingles just keep getting ripped off. The horse is not a rug trasher so it must be poor stitching. I am sick of sending them away for repair.

I much prefer Rambo's.

The tab that you hold to pull open the velcro at the chest came off in my hand... I'm not that strong! I'm sorry that you are having the same issues.
