No Olympia Thread?!

Yeah they're to protect against spur marks. Poor Bertram Allen got disqualified in 2015 at Olympia for spur marks. I like tallulahs clip, it does the same job!

So do they have to split the prize pot between them or does the organiser double the prize pot, as it didn't go to a 6th round?

How much does a puissance horse cost? And how much was first prize?

I loved Dazzler, definitely wouldn't want to ride him though! Two very contrasting horses, both gorgeous in their own ways.

Tonights 2 winners received 6412 euros each

Thanks for that Neddy Man hopefully I've quoted you correctly, managed to watch it that was much more exciting as they had more people trying for it this year usually half of them pull out after a round or two. Wanted them to go even higher think Guy could have done.

WOW to Mr Blue Sky :o the only time that horse needed to put in any extra effort was at 7'4 and even then he only had to try a little bit - fantastic horse, so effortless.

Dasler is my kind of horse - I absolutely loved him, looked a very fun but tricky ride and his ears were HUGE!!!

Class was amazing last night, really enjoyed watching it :D

I'm surprised Laura Renwick entered at all... I don't think she smiled once in the class and didn't seem to be enjoying herself at all.

Apparently they both did jump higher recently when they shared the prize at Rouen, though only a few cm! I think Mr Blue Sky looked like he could have gone higher with ease and I suspect Dassler could have as well. Despite his bizarre style, his jumps were pretty much flawless. Seeing him bounce into the jumps leaping all over the place then clear them with ease was so great to watch!!

Agreed Mr Blue Sky could have easily gone up a decent amount.

Interestingly Dasler's way of going was very similar, if slightly more exaggerated to Nick Skelton's Lastic

We were there at the dressage night and sat right behind the mexican judge and could peek over her shoulder to see the scoring, it was fascinating. I do think the thing that struck me the most, is how much lighter dressage riding is becoming - It was only really Hans Peter who obviously rode in the really strong battle of wills old school kind of style, the rest were far more kind. Especially the youngsters. Charlotte and Carl have a lot of good to take credit for now! Although there was one that was permanently straining against the bit with an open mouth, i can't remember who that was now.

I thoroughly enjoyed it all, such good riders. I loved that the winner was genuinely chuffed to be at olympia and said in effect it was "now or never, go for it". I really enjoyed his test and his music.

really enjoyed it-two fabulous horses, even my OH got right into it and said that Dasler looked like a right headbanger :D

I was not a fan of limiting the class when it happened but I do think it's for the best not. I have booked my front room and the telly for saturday and sunday :)

I was there yesterday watching the Pussiance it was fab and you could hear a pin drop! I love the Italian rider Luca, he was fab.

Both winners really deserved it, Dazzler was on springs wasn't he!

I love Luca as well, not always the prettiest riding but his horses look pretty happy whenever I've seen them.

Always rides in simple tack too. No gadgets or fancy bling. Really seems to enjoy doing it and no matter what always praises his Horses. Agree his riding isn't always the prettiest to watch. But I always root for him! I actually thought Shane Breen rode lovely last night too.

agreed-I follow Luca on FB and he's always full of praise for his horses. as for 'pretty' riding, it may be a poor choice of word on my part. its different to much of the top level sjing we see-the horses are freer and seem to be able to make their own choices a bit more, its refreshing.

My dad always used to take me to Olympia when I was a kid, I was there watching Lastic 77 and he once bought me a Team Sanyo jacket and I thought I was the bees knees lol! Not been since the mid 80s, would love to go back at some point.

Loved Mr Blue Sky, what a jump! Even got the boyfriend hooked, he says he wants to take my horse next year (14hh...good luck with that:D)
Felt sorry for the last horse to go, he tried but couldn't quite do it!

I actually thought she’d pull out before the last round as it had such an awkward jump in round 4. Had a horrible feeling as it went down to the wall in round 5, and I really wish she hadn’t gone in.

Agree with this but the horse is class and sometimes they pick themselves up after an awkward jump. I guess hindsight is a lovely thing and she'll probably be kicking herself for going in for round 5, however, if she didn't give it a go, she'd also be kicking herself for that!

He is a brave and experienced puissance horse so I wouldn't expect the knock to affect him too much, and at least now she has learnt his limit.

Dassler was absolutely bonkers and the best entertainer of the night. Lovely to see a horse really, really enjoying his job and wanting to jump. Mr Blue Sky never looked in trouble and I figured he'd win from the first round. Gripping stuff.

I always get to watch Puissance as the old man likes it too. Dressage not so much - 'not this sticky out legs... he looks like he's goose stepping (extended trot).

Glock's Dream Boy is a gorgeous horse but tense and tight, and I find it hard to watch - he just looks like he's screaming the whole time. Hayley and Rubin's Nite never seem to do as well as I think they should - as an amateur, I appreciate the relaxed and happy partnership they have far more than the super active hindleg on Glock's Dream Boy. Charlotte was a different class of rider, especially on a horse she doesn't know as well.

Watched Dassler at Liverpool last year in the puissance and I think he tied for the top then too, clearly a horse who lives his job!
I really like Shane Breen’s old boy too...if they’re looking to retire him soon I’ll take him! :D

My OH loves the Puissance - so much so that he's been quizzing me about how much it would cost to put my mare to Fantomas De Muze! I don't think a Welsh Dx him would be the best mix so am gently trying to change his mind...

We struggle to keep the sodding thing in a field if she's not happy as it is - I dread to think about a copy of her with more jumping skill :p.
