One test that was alright and the other that was going great and ended up in the *******et Bucket!
N28 was a little tense. As we were riding around before the bell we went past the judges hut and as she realised there were people in there she had a mini spook/low rear like a stunt western horse. For some reason, aside from laughing my first instinct was to mime waving a lasso and say ye-ha, which the judge seemed to find amusing! I chuckled my way around the rest of the test. But she settled in and I was more concerned about getting her round in a positive way than her coming heavy in my hand and behind the vertical. She was a good girl, not always round and I completely misjudged the size of my first half circle in canter which lost us plenty of marks! BUT we managed a couple of strides of counter canter to the right which I was really happy with. We've been working really hard at home on holding it. She's perfectly capable but thinks dressage is just like jumping where she sorts her own leg out
In the walk, I started laughing again because she spotted the XC fences from last weeks BE still flagged and dressed and became very excited!

Laughing when she saw the fences:
Looking slightly more as though we know what we're doing!:
Why actually feel for what leg you're on when you can just look down instead
N30 she went in a lot better! She was round, still a little tense but mostly going well. I was really pleased with how she was going and felt as though she would put in a nice little test. And she did! Until the walk to canter left. She was walking nicely, then as I asked for canter, she looked up and realised that the horse in the next arena had left and nobody was left in the warm up arena. She was duh duh duuhhhh... ALL ALONE! Cue big spin and dance around the arena... So I retired and at the discretion of the lovely judge I was able to school Chilli around the arena for what would have been the remainder of our test time.
She came out to chat to me as I was cooling off in the warm up and was really lovely about Chilli, giving me some good advice.
Some pics from the N30 (before she did her stunt horse impression):
You can see her tensity here, chomping a little:
Overall, I was pleased. We've both had our BD memberships accepted so the next show will be affiliated! Woo hoo. I've joined to do My Quest, so that should be fun.
Beverage of choice and a selection of snacks for all those who have read
