No wonder Insurance premiums are goiung up!

My particular vet do not engage in what is fraud, which is why I use them, but others around here most certainly do.I also think someone on here needs to look up a diagram of dogs teeth for goodness sake, such nonsense, yes a canine bends back ,about a half to two thirds possibly of the visible tooth..BUT "bak the length of the whole jaw"..oh please, maybe you are getting confused with elephants or sabre tooth tigers.:D:D:D:D

If a tumour biopsy was giong to take up 2K then I shudder to think that your vets were charging.. If you don't trust your vet go somewhere els.e Just because they suggest a diagnostic plan that will let you know what you are dealing with does not mean they are ripping you off. And just because cheaper options are available doesn't mean they are better or worth trying first. E.g amputation is cheaper than pinning a broken leg-so a case where asking if the animal is insured (and by proxy if there is money available to treat) is reasonable. It's amazing how many people think vets are money grabbers without remotely appreciating the complexities of situations. Alec Swan, maybe its more that you have only worked with/been with unethical vets-and there are some of those in every profession!
'Well said - if you know an animal is on the way out the extra time & stress of taking bloods just prolongs suffering. ' and it's always black and white is it to whether the animal is irreversibly 'on its way out' ?

It was my horse rather than my dog, but I was amazed how both my last claims, came to within £10 of the Maximum limit allowed by my insurance.....

This particular dog has endured several GAs to do this root canal filling,it "nearly died" due to anaesthetic reaction each time, there is still more work to do..ie more GAs..it is common sense to make it`s next GA the last.
Vet work is a business, the Herriott days are long gone,if you really think that the insurance policies do not give a vet free rein to "do the best",that is milk the money, you are in cloud cuckoo land.
One of my bullies sustained a femur spiral fracture. On xray everything was all in line, now,on insurance it would have run up a merry bill with one of those metal rod cage affairs and frequent visits, redressing etc etc.As it was she had total cage rest, bedded on very deep paper wool, merely moving once every 24 hours from one cage to a clean one.The cost was for just three xrays, some painkillers and some antibiotics ....at a total of £300.Result being a perfect mend, no stress to the dog, which a fixator would give her in spades.
This dog actually was insured, but this treatment was deemed the best by being non aggressive and actually causing less possible damage by interference.

Stupid ST,told you bones on xray all in alignment, the treatment was decided by the vet..TOTAL cage rest, which was done to the letter, xray halfway thru and another after six weeks.Do read before you comment dear.
