My non horsey hubby really does put up with a lot.
I'm never home to make dinner as it's bringing in time around then, stables always cleaner than the house, trips out at the weekends usually involve popping in to pick up feed/shavings/lotions and potions that the cuddies need/want on the way past. I'm sure you all know how it goes!
This morning he was going solo as I was at work early and he was off, so he volunteered to go to the yard feed my 2 delinquents, change their rugs and put them out in the field.
I called him about 7·45 to check all was ok, thinking they would be out and he would be on his way home by then. All I could hear was "no Eddie, don't do that Eddie, that's naughty Eddie, mummy won't like that".
Turns out both horses decided hubby was fair game. 1 usually eats most of his brekkie and I pick up his bucket so he eats the last few mouthfuls, spoiled I know. Said horse decided that daddy was there to hold the bucket and made him hold it for 15 mins slowly licking the bucket clean.
Meanwhile horse no.2 gets bored, as he is already changed for the field, so as hubby tries to throw the rug onto no.1 he couldn't figure out how the rug wasn't staying on long enough for him to do the buckles. As I phoned he realised no.2 was standing pulling the rug off no.1 everytime hubby bent down to do chest buckles. He swears the 2 of them were laughing at him. I was at work laughing my head off.
Do other people's horses on here take the micky out of their non horsey partners or indeed anyone else when they are trying to help? And do the horses look pleased with themselves afterwards?
Anyway thought I would take this post to say thank you to all the non horsey partners out there. You put up with so much and thinking about it you must be more mad than us. At least we love the mud and poo and everything else associated with stinky equines.
So thank you Mr Radar Lugs xx
