My cushings mare was having a nosebleed when I brought her in for her tea tonight. It was by no means heavy - not even dripping - just a little trickle (and only from one nostril). She did used to get them occasionally back in her ridden days but now I'm so paranoid of everything and was wondering if they are a symptom of her cushings progressing? Like the tumour/enlarged pituitary is getting bigger and causing pressure-increase?

This is the first one she's had for years, so I'm not worried yet :o and will keep an eye out for more. I just want to know if other peoples' cushings horses have/had them or if the two are not likely to be related?

Thank you in advance. :)

my cushings horse has never had a nosebleed and i didnt think they were a symptom.....perhaps your horse has just nicked her nostril on the fence or a nettle???

Thank u both. Splashgirl - i looked right up her nose (im such a loser!) and the blood was coming from further up than i could see.
Oberon - i will ask, thank u. Reassuring that you havent heard of it before though & hopefully im just over-reacting! :) Will call my vet in the morning too :) She thinks i have munchausans biproxy...!
