shes not in season so they gonna scan her in 2 days to see if coming into season if not they gonna jab her into season then cover again!!......bloody horses!!!!!
grin.gif
shes been at that stud since may 13th!! thought she would have been back pregnant by now as she is such a tart!!!

They are all being difficult this year unless you started early before this hideous weather!

Mine was in season May 19, swabbed on 25, got to the stud shen she *should* have been in season and was teased every day for 3 weeks and NOTHING.

She was jabbed on 26 June, in season 3 days later and covered the day she came in (29 June/1 July) so now I'm just waiting to have her scanned and hoping antib's have prevented any infection as she had a little tear.

Would rather not have to cover her again and her tear again which its likely to...

Hope you catch yours this time!

So sorry to hear this brackenhappy!

Golly - breeding can be awfully frustrating - and it does seem that a lot of people are having problems this year...even with 'tarty' mares!

Have you considered using AI - to reduce the risk of tearing and infection, I mean?

No. Too expensive, no specialists near here, stallion I wanted doesn't do AI, and as an older maiden mare - she's 15 - got more chance with a natural covering.

She was fine the first time, but the second covering she must have moved slightly. They were only tiny tears, one either side, and vet says they will heal just fine.

Hopefully though, she's taken and we won't have to try again!

god i hope so!! when she went up it was glorious weather!! they call this global warming!!! i think shes having too good of a time up there and wants to stay!! shes fine at covering natural so will leave it to the stud to decide if they want to AI her, i dont think they will though as she stands perfectly for dollar!!

So is Lia! She as happy as a pig in s**t there but at £13 a day i'm not to happy about her blaze' attitude about this concieving business!!

The stallion i choose to use only does AI, i would have prefered her to have been covered naturally but it just wasn't an option

unfortunately the level of tartishness doesn't effect the chances of getting pregnant!

Very sorry your mare isn't infoal, sounds like she is having a good time though!

You are not alone mares 42 day scan..... no foal, she was at 17 days.
frown.gif

Have given up for this year.
Luckily have 1 for next year, better than 0 out of 3
smile.gif

the stallion i'm using does either AI or natural so think thats why she aint catchin as she kmnows that she isnt gonna get an arm shoved up her!!!!.....my god though i'm only payin £3 per day for bracken at the stud although still payin my normal £17.50 per week at my yard to keep her stable!!! how come yours is so expensive??
grin.gif

bloody hell is expensive then!! bracken gets fed once a day for that and they go and check all the girls!! shes only been out of the field for scans and new shoes and any other vets things oh and to move her as bottom fields flooded!! as we speak the girls are out looking for my LW blue rug that she managed to get off and lose!! god knows how and she has never done that before!! so if anyone in the preston area sees a LW blue rug flying about its mine LOL!!!!
grin.gif

I know my vets tearing his hair out said he's never known it this bad.

Have spent a lot of money this year on the mares i'm just going to quit while still sane!
wink.gif

Plus the fact i'm going to be busy next week having my baby
(being induced on sunday!)
ooo.gif

OMG you must be nuts!! foalie or real baby mmm let me think...................i will stick to the four legged variety!!!! i hope everythin goes well with you and the baby, have you any idea what your havin or names??.......i reakon i can last a good few more years before i go down that route!! i've made it to 28 without kids so few more years wont make a difference!!...........the stud said the same about bracken no reason at all for her to not be pregnant! and they have all the scannin etc done and cover at optimum time but they still havin probs!all i can say is thank god i paid for vets package that covers the studwork otherwise i think i would need to be on the game to pay for it all!!!
grin.gif

Sorry to hear that bracken, it's gutting! Mayb 3rd time lucky then!

good luck with the induction eventing_chick, I was induced with my daughter, hope it all goes well

Think I had all the luck with mine this year, 2nd foal at age 15 (had 1st at 13) and took 1st time both times. This time to a 2yr old colt and she only has 1 ovary! Prob wont get my other mare in foal now and every time i touch a pole in the ring I think it'll drop cause I've def had my share of luck!

Thanks!

Every time I read something like this it makes me cringe. The two most infertile (by natural mating) mammalian species native to this country are humans, and horses.

AI has been PROVED to be more successful in achieving pregnancies than natural covering, over and over again. The only reason you should use natural covering over AI is if you want less chance of getting a pregnancy.

The problem here is non-specialist vets and bad AI technicians; it's them that give AI a bad name.
