for those who have read my previous post my lad had the vet out today after my 2nd farrier visit yesturday,still on box rest still lame,the general outcome is still no sign of abcess so poss not that,but he does have sidebone and ringbone,not suprising after his hard working life,so will be on 2 danilon a day for ever to hopefully keep him sound,he is 23 so i have decided to retire him as from today,im sad about this but at least i can still pamper him

Oh, I am so sorry things have not turned out as you had hoped but, like you say, you have lots of pampering times aheard of you and I am sure you will enjoy these - wishing your boy a long and happy retirement and wishing you all the best for your future together xxx
 
thank you for all your replys,im sure that he will more than enjoy his even easier life chilling out,just didnt want it to be so soon as he is still a big strong lad who i thought i would still be able to enjoy a hack now and again but its his time now to rest hes done his time working hard

I am sorry to hear this but you are lucky to have got him to 23! i think you have done pretty well and he deserves a retirement now. My mare had to be retired at 16 after only 5 years of competition and enjoyment due to two injuries in the same leg.

Be grateful for the good times and love him for ever.
