I was planning on getting Chad a saddle pad all of his own as he is currently using old Ellie ones, but then wondered if I should get a numnah instead. I really can't decide!

What do you use and why?

Saddle Pad always look smarter as I can never find a numnah the perfect shape for the saddle.

Saddle is new and fits great, was fitted with one of Ellie's numnahs, but I do seem to swing towards saddle cloths when looking.

Excellent - in that case numnah or saddlecloth (regular thickness ones) rather than a saddle pad - which could compromise the fit of the saddle.

Old boy has numnah and gel pad thingy, new boy has polypad and pro-riser type thing.

yup, I just looked myself, and its out of stock! Dont think it would be to long before they have more in stock. But you HAVE to buy it when they do have them in stock

usually use saddlecloth, as tends to fit under saddle better (sometimes difficult to get same shape/size) When the Appy is at her current (lightest) weight she has a Barnsby grip pad, otherwise the saddle moved forward and interferes with her shoulders. We have a lot of hills which give the saddle lots of opportunity to move!

I don't use any of them - my saddle fits correctly so doesn't need anything under it.

Saddle cloths/numnahs arent used on horses that dont have correctly fitted saddles

That would mean 98% of the horsey population dont have saddles correctly fitted.

I use both, depending on how my fancy strikes me when buying. The spooky pony currently has four: a black numnah for everyday under his dressage saddle, and a white saddle cloth for comps, and a blue numnah for everyday under his GP, and a black fancy saddle cloth for parties. Main restriction is that he needs high-wither ones.
