Numnahs for single flap saddles?

In the spirit of optimism that my car will return from it's MOT, my farrier will one day turn up, and my horse's eternal foot crack will grow out.....I need an everyday numnah for my single flap, v forward cut jump saddle. I have a nu-med saddle cloth which works (attaches to the top D), but it's not cheap for every day, and would prefer a numnah for day to day use (in black!).

Also, the other horse is a bit narrower, so the same but with a half wool pad might do her.

I've done a bit of hunting around and can't find much. I figured you lot would know (grovels hugely).

Unfortunately I'm stuck with Nuumed for good and Polypads for everyday (though I'm llucky enough not to have to use my singleflap saddle every day I do pull it out once a week or so to have a pop).

Can find plenty dressage squares with D-ring loops, but not many v forward cut ones. Will be interested in replies

we used to just use normal pads for every day and cut the straps off!! they dont tend to move, or you can put the normal straps round your stirrup leathers.
 
What about a racing numnah? They dont have straps and are more likely to stay put than a polypad. Only thing is they might not be deep enough, have to check against your saddle
 
I searched for ages to find just this, and the upshot is you are stuck with Nuumed!

I bought one in black and one in white because I simply couldn't find anything else which went under my single flap jump saddle and was forward cut enough, GP ones just did not fit. I only have a 17.5" saddle and had to buy the nuumed ones in XL too!
 
am interested in this discussion - can't believe the 'numnah' people haven't latched on to it yet!!

It occurs to me that it might be quite dangerous to attach the numnah to the stirrup leathers, as this would stop the leather from pulling off the bar when a rider falls.

If, in our case, you are using a devacoux saddle, with corresponding breastplate, there is not room for the numnah strap in the the D ring - so where do you put it?!!! Even worse if you are using a sheepskin half pad AND a numnah.

In the end, you tuck the staps under and hope that nothing slips!!!!!!!!

Yea but - no but - yea but - doesn't work!!!!!!!

I have those thingies for the breastplate but they aren't WIDE enough to take the numnah straps AND the breasplate, let alone the sheepskin half pad - well certainly not when my fingers are freezing cold - and anyway the numnah straps are usually FAR too long to be of any use when attached in this way!!!!!!!!!

I have half pad and numnah attached to those and breastplate attached to the saddle. Only use short strap numnahs anyway so not a problem for me.
 
Clever old you!!!!!!! I mean that nicely!! Could you give me the make/sizes that you use - I have a shedful of numnahs that 'looked good' but that we never actually use!!!!!!

I have a ridiculous number of half pads as horse is a sensitive soul and needs sheepskin next to his back...so here goes!

Roma one - no straps so no issue
Griffen nuumed one with memory foam - short straps
Griffen one with inserts to act as rear/front rider as required - no straps
Christ horsedream one - long straps but only use it with dressage saddle so no issue.

Numnahs are all griffen nuumed 'everyday' forward cut SJ ones as they are the only brand which is forward cut enough to go under my saddle. All have short straps and are XL for a 17.5" ideal springbok saddle. The other thing I have done in times of need is attach the pad straps to the bit of the breastplate which loops through the D-rings if that makes sense? I think they cost me just over £20 each so not terribly cheap but they last well.

I have now given up buying anything except nuumed as it is a waste of time because i get so cross about the fit! I prefer the sheepskin on christ or stephens pads to the nuumed stuff though, it comes up fluffier and softer after it is washed.
 
I have WOW saddlecloths. You can also get numnahs designed to fit under jumping saddles

Does anyone have a link to the nuumed ones so I can have a look?
