Nupafeed MAH

What for exactly?

People use Mg for all sorts of reasons.. calming, muscle trouble, dietary issues, behavioural... what do you want a review about?

I've used it for stress/anxiety (had no effect and also very difficult to get horse to eat it - it's quite bitter and I had to syringe it in)
and spookyness (different horse, appeared to make a positive difference and ate it readily)

Milliepops, have you thought about calcium for stressed/anxious horse? Magnesium will only work if the horse is deficient, if not deficient then the body will just get rid of the excess.

no - it was a long time ago and caused by moving to a new yard which turned out to be thoroughly unsuitable. The cure was to move again ;)

I did try calcium for spooky horse but if anything it appeared worse :confused3:

It's a complex thing isn't it!! lol!!

I tried it with my boy when I first had him. I think it had a slight positive effect but can't rule out the placebo effect (on me, not him!). His issue was being very anxious and clingy (even to the horse in the box next door he'd never met before) when competing (mostly SJ and a bit of Dressage) and after about a year he went lame so came off it. He's competed now and again since then (Dressage only) and been a lot better, so I think it was pain related the first time round.

I've ordered some horse first relax me going on good reviews I have read online.

My mare is a dream in summer living out, comes in overnight October time and it gets to this point in the year (January) she becomes incredibly nervy and sensitive (mostly ridden work) - spooky and very very sensitive to noise. She doesn't get hard feed and is on lo cal haylage. Turnout is more limited at this time of year unfortunately but she does appear to get more stressed rather than full of beans if that makes sense. Come April time I tend to get my lovely chilled girl back. Just looking to see if something can help as its not particularly fun being on edge constantly bless her!
