My dog (welsh sheepdog) has this habit of licking patches on my couch! It leaves dark stains on my light coloured couch and is driving me nuts! He is on a diet of working dog food (local feed merchants own brand) and tesco tinned meat, this has been approved by my vet so assuming there is nothing lacking in his diet. I know collies can be known for obsessive behaviour but is there any way to stop this?

don't let him on the couch?!

i can empathise though - mine licks himself - drives me mad - i did a big thread recently on it - he's ended up on mild sedatives to help his behaviour (basically he has dementia)

maybe a collie person will have better ideas for him though

LML he isn't really 'into' bones, the only treats he will really eat are rawhide chews which I have stopped giving him after reading the rawhide thread!
P-H I have an open plan house so can't shut him out of any rooms, he does it when I am out as well

Cant you just put a cheap throw over the sofa for when you are out? I have a large collection of various revolting coloured (but very large) cheap fleece throws. Keep swapping them around, they wash well and hey presto, when I have friends over, doggy throws come off and sofas look clean!
