Odd Cross breeds...

This was the pony I rode on Saturdays as a teenager. Pedigree unknown, but because he had a "Scottish" name and was the colour of a Highland cow, people used to say "Highland". Now, looking back at old photos, he sometimes looks part Suffolk Punch to me. Wrong colour altogether for a Highland. Doesn't look like a Welshie D either.

my friend has a welsh d x shetland ....accidental covering , D was put in field with shettie mare, yo must have thought the size difference would be a preventer.

he is only 11 hands and is stunning but not a childs ride

I think nature takes care of it. when we took our mare (14.2hh) to the vets for her pre-breeding exam we said we were going to put her to 15.2 and asked vet if it was ok, she said the mare determines size of foal and wecould put her to whatever size we want to- still woudn't like to do it tho, cos sometimes crossbreeds can look odd.

I have a Highland x TB, not a rare cross but rather sad as pure Highlands are becoming rare. If I had the money and space I would love to breed pure Highlands.

Wooowww!!! That would be sooo cool!!! I have a Haffy but he is only 14.3 and I'm 5'9" so I look a bit silly but he is adorable - to super-size him would be amazing lol!
I also have a BretonxAndalucian which is unusual - her head is all delicate and araby, then she sort of balloons which big shoulders and a cobby body ;)
