A pair of bolt croppers. I was convinced someone had been planning on cutting fencing and stealing the horses but had got disturbed and left them behind. Told YO and it turned out they were his, he'd lost them a few months earlier when he'd been fixing some fencing in that field - the horses weren't in there at the time so I didn't know he'd been there.

We regularly get cars in one of the fields. It's next to the road right on a nasty bend at the bottom of a slight slope. All the conditions are perfect for black ice in the winter or aquaplaning when it rains heavily. Despite it being well known locally, people still come round far too fast and come straight through the fence and hedge. We only use it for the horses during heat waves.

I arrived one day to find a man laying in my field. I got OH on the phone for safety and went to confront him. He was actually laying with his dog who had been hit my a car and bolted into my field. I didn’t find out it was OK, but I hope it was :(

I also found 3 x WW1 metal wire posts. They just sort of appeared out of the ground after a wet winter. A museum wanted them, after I emailed for info on what they were, but I haven’t done anything about it. They are currently sat in the corner of my barn gathering dust.

We found a pair of dirty knickers. Our old field was next door to a place that help mini festivals 3 or 4 times a year. I'd assume some must of popped over then fence for a bit of hanky panky and got disturbed by one of the ponies ??

A Roman brooch dating from the first century BC found by metal detectors and, less pleasantly, a couple of human turds ? One of which was left under a takeaway container just inside our front gate. And yes I picked it up to bin it before realising what was under it ??? I must have washed my hands 100 times before they felt clean again!

A pile of porn magazines - the field is next to a road so I assume someone must have dumped them.

A whole kitchen. Fridge freezer with the frozen food contents spilling out. Parrot cage. And a pony club book. All fly tipped on my usual route. My friend found a tortoise in a cardboard box last summer on the golf course.

A helicopter.....
small 2 seater bubble copter had to make an emergency landing and couldn't make the extra half mile to the airfield, so they put down in my top paddock which was one field instead of the 2 it is today. An hour later after mechanics had driven round, it safely took back off to return to airfield.

Plenty of deitrus from others, usually the local foxes dropping stuff off when passing.... and balloons, remains of Chinese Lanterns, deer afterbirth, all sorts really, and I'm off the beaten track really.

i answered an ad from a metal detectorist who posted on here. Nice chap who spent many days trundling about my paddock. He found loads of old buckles from horse tack, but best finds were coins, he found an Elizabeth 1 sixpence, Charles 1 rose farthing, George 111 penny, Victorian thruppence and his "find of the year" a Henry V11 half groat as well as lots of more ordinary coins. He put them in a little frame and gave them to me, the half groat's worth about £150 but he said his pleasure was finding things not selling them.

The oddest thing I ever found in a paddock was my car keys.

Horse had a wound I was treating in his paddock as it was quite a walk to the yard. When the herd was in that paddock, a lot of us drove to a different spot, parked in the street and attended our steeds in a handy little spot.

On this occasion I had walked into the paddock with all the stuff I needed, as usual no bag to hold my stuff nor any pockets in my clothing that I trusted, so I just popped everything on the grass.

Yes, brilliant I know.

Bathed and treated the wound. Patted the horse. Told him he was an exceptionally brave and talented individual then walked off to car and "What the he//? Where are my flipping keys?!" said I out loud.

It was a BIG paddock.

But after 2 hours, just when I really had given up for good, there they were at my feet.

Great stories to read ?

Seems normal in comparison...i found a herd of horses...but they weren’t mine! ‘
’Bog ponies’ dumped on the nearby forestry bogland for the winter by a person/dealer i later found out about. They’d come down from the peak of the valley during the coldest weather for shelter, must’ve smelt the sweet haylage my horses were munching and were all housed right beside my own horses dry-lot in the small field beside them.
Small cobs...didnt look in too bad health surprisingly...stallion had appy spots on his rear, gorgeous small stout boy.

They were all staring at me....my horses wide-eyed staring back! It was around xmas.

I filled my van with hay bales and went up the valley and strewn the hay in sheltered spots up there, near the mountain streams so theyd have water with the hay, then herded the horses back up, knowing they’d find the hay just off the track.
That way they didnt know it was me feeding them, and my horses could eat at night in peace.

It was really a stallion with his harem of pregnant mares upon closer inspection, some yearlings too...my mare was getting bothered, my gelding becoming stallionish. There was only electric fence between them which thankfully was off-putting enough!...but i was quite concerned as it always happened overnight in the worst weather.

One strange thing found was an old leather shoe buried in the mud, 40’s style, with a small horse shoe nailed to the bottom to make a heel!

A large pink vibrator in the gateway!

How long ago was that? I had a friend in the 80's who discovered the the car boot was full of Christmas presents that her husband had bought for his secretary. Including pink fluffy handcuffs and other "accessories". She drove around leaving them in the drives and on the doorsteps of his bosses and work colleagues. I never knew whether to laugh or be shocked at the vindictiveness, it's not as if she didn't know he had form, she was his secretary when she nicked him off his wife.
