Oddest comments people have made about your dogs

Oh how could I forget, the forum member who said my dog would go lame young and not be up to any hard work long term, judged by a photo. He's 12 now, fit and sound, multiple times national and international competitor, he was seven when he retired and could probably still get around a trial now, if I had any control of him :p and was still doing work-outs for decoys last year.

Not odd comments, but we do get a lot of unwanted /unnecessary ones. Mainly along the lines of .. oohh hes a chocolate lab, you do know they are all mad / crazy /untrainable etc et
Photo of him showing how crazy he is . He’s funny , a real comedian . But definitely not nuts ( well not yet !)

" Just a pup that one isnt it " said about the 6 year old Labrador - this gets asked regularly by customers at work.
" cross with a whippet is she ?" no .... purebred KC registered labrador. Just not a big fat beasty ....

"ah you must be a little old lady" said to 1.5yr old Jack russel as she was broken coated so must be old...

I regularly get comments on the fact their ribs are on show , ' they need a good feed' etc.

Its sad really that fat dogs have become the norm !

I get the same thing with my 4 year old Lab.

Since she's smaller and not obese, she must be a pup!

People commonly refuse to believe that the whippets are not infact baby greyhounds, and even when they ask the breed and you say whippet, they ask when they are going to grow up to be a greyhound. 😅

Foal/pony/horse situation springs to mind!

Haha that's brilliant! I've not come across this before but do have a fairly dinky Greyhound so we get quite a lot of 'is she a Whippet?' confusion.

I met a man out walking his Red Setter. He asked me if my Liver Flatcoat was a Red Setter! Now many people don’t know what flatcoats are, let alone the liver ones, but he was holding a red setter and my dog wasn’t even the same colour, shape, size or anything else! 😁
I have also been asked if my black flatcoat is a black red setter or a spaniel cross labrador! All good fun! 😁🐾
My first dog as a kid was a flatcoat, she was thick as a plank but adorable. You don't see many around, though there is a breeder with quite the pack near me now! They're the first ones I've seen since I was about 9!

In the 5 days Pepper has been in Colorado, 3 people have asked if she's an english setter...

I'd never even heard of an english setter until now! Can see why though. Maybe they are popular in the usa.

Aria is constantly mistaken for other breeds. We frequently have people asking if she's a Golden Retriever (twice by people who have had actual GRs with them). When we say that no, she's a yellow Lab, they always comment on how long her hair is.

She also gets mistaken for a crossbreed a lot (on account of her size). When we explain that she's only a puppy, there are still the occasional ones who look at us as if she's been mis-sold. In fairness, I do think she's going to end up being a small Lab - but a Lab nonetheless 😅

"are you walking a tiger?" - brindle greyhound

"is that a whippet?" - 34kg greyhound bitch

"what breed are they?" - 3 greyhounds....

The standard you've got your hands full/your house must be huge/they must need loads of walking type. Nope, it's three greyhounds. My floor is strewn with dog beds and they lounge their lives away 🙄
