Hi , I’m doing chilham be90 at the end of the month and I’m really stuck on what studs to use !!!!

Any suggestions to use on outside and inside stud holes please

I know my horse but I only normally use one stud on the outside but I’ve changed farrier since my last competition and my mares shoes r a lot slippery so I don’t think I can get away with one stud , i was just wanting to know what other people use , if the weather stays like this and the ground is hard ?? Do people use road studs for inside or a little pointed stud . I’ve just brought some mini sharp studs from supastud and they r nice and small but not sure if people use them in the inside .

Don’t need sarcastic remarks just people personal choice with studs
 
But you didn't ask what people use on hard ground, I was merely answering the question you did ask, sorry if that wasn't the question you actually wanted to ask.
 
I try to just use one on the outside behind unless the ground is very slippy, sometimes using 2 pointy ones in each foot for dr/ sj then I prefer to take out the fronts for xc at the lower levels, I have never found the need to use road studs as I wouldn't feel they give enough grip, no one can really tell you what to use as it can be trial and error until you really know how they cope with the different ground conditions.
 
I would generally aim to use one on the outside behind with two in front. The hind being one size up from the front.

Size and point/blunt dependant on the ground, and if in doubt smaller rather than bigger. Train minus studs in all ground conditions
 
Just a word of caution about using studs on the inside, my horse has a scar about the length of a ruler, right down his hind leg and into the hoof from when he was double studded by his previous owner. He needed a lot of time off, box rest etc. until it healed and he's left with a very unsightly scar and a stiffness on that side.
 
I don't use studs on hard/dry ground. I think people over stud, especially at the lower levels, you shouldn't need to use studs at BE90/100 unless its slippy and/or muddy.

On slippy or muddy ground I use the small conical supastuds on the outside and a blunt stud on the inside. Again, always go for the smallest stud possible.
 
no one wants to over stud but esp on hard ground with sparse grass cover the risk of slipping & falling even in the dressage phase has to be evaluated. OP I had those Mini sharp supastuds when I competed on grass and found them invaluable, small enough to allow a bit of movement but sharp enough to prevent a big slip. I used 2 in front, occasionally upgraded to a road stud if needing more traction in soft ground.
 
I have also thought just using 1 stud on the outside causes a whole lot of twist to the leg, causing a lot of damage over time. I evented my horse up to novice level and never used studs and my horse never slipped. Riders seem obsessed with studs nowadays!
