Hello all,

Does anyone have any exercises they use in order to keep fit and improve their riding whilst not actually on the horse? I need to improve my core strength and stability as well as suppleness.

Does anyone have an exercise regeime they use which does not require tonnes of equipment / gyms? There are so many exercises to do I can't seem to find a plan which works without taking an excessive amount of time?

All suggestions greatly appreciated,

If you google Matt Luxton's equestrian athlete plan you'll find loads. After a long lay off with a broken shoulder I signed up for his whole programme (costs about £25) and while I obviously was a total let down in terms of sticking to the exact 8 week prorgamme, I've got all the exercises in a manual and the programme saved forever - and the exercises are different from what you'd expect so it feels worth it in my view.

Pilates and Yoga! Google some poses, they can be done anywhere. Plank in front of the TV! I have been doing Yoga and Pilates reguarly for several months now and it has transformed my riding. I am much more flexible, even and strong. I also have a rocking flat stomach and I had a baby 10 months ago :D.
