I thought I should stand up and be counted. Having spent years on a yard with no winter turnout now I am on a lovely yard with my lovely new horse (well 8 months is nearly new) and have winter turnout I am obsessed with turnout rugs.

I have ummmh 1 very lightweight, 1 40g, a 70g with detachable neck, a 200g with neck and a 220g I use as a stable rug cos he sleeps on his poo!

Do you think there is treatment available for such as me?

I too have an addiction to rugs, I only realised this year how bad it was when I took them to be cleaned!

This is the turnouts:
1 x standard neck rainsheet
1 x full neck rain sheet
1 x full neck 220g
1 x detachable neck 200g
1 x standard neck medium (not too sure on the weight)
1 x full neck heavyweight

I wont even add in the stable rugs, under rugs & exercise sheets

I just love buying rugs! Think she has one for every occasion :)

Ive only had my new horse since September (hes a native) and so far have acquired:
1 x lw
3 x m/w, 1 with, 1 without and 1 with a half neck
1 stable rug
1 fleece

even my little shettie has 3 assorted versions of turnout rugs and this week, a nice new lw stable rug. It is of course to stop them getting so disgustingly muddy it takes longer to groom them than to ride them!
When I took my TB to his loan home the back of my pick up was totally full with his wardrobe

I can make you all feel better.

For four horses (sadly one of whom was put down two weeks ago today), one of whom never wears a rug, two of whom live out, I have....

TWO HUNDRED AND SEVEN RUGS. Yes. 207.

I was made to count them by OH when we moved. My liveries had less than that between them.

I managed to throw one away!

not sure how many I have - my advice is buy another horse who is the same rug size - then the total rug count is spread over two horses and doesn't look so bad :p

Omg that rug room! I'm shocked more than the 207 rugs Starzaan has! My rugs are just sort of half folded half stuffed to vaguely resemble some sort of orderly pile on a table in the corner of my feed room!

Note to self: ...must try harder...

Please stop these posts ;) I have been plagued by dreams of heat lamps since you mentioned your stables, this morning you told us about your horses lovely shavings beds, now I find out your equine wardrobe is perfectly stocked - I'm seriously concerned that if my ponies find out they will want to move to live with you instead of me  If you also have extensive hacking which includes hills and woods please keep it to yourself :D

My ponies each have 2 lightweight turnouts, 2 med weights and 2 heavy weights each. Plus a stable rug in each weight, 2 coolers (each) one mesh sweat rug (shared) a summer sheet (shared) a fly rug each and an exercise sheet. I've never thought a horse needed 2 of each weight turnout before but the rain this year rather changed things

They have asked for Thermatex rugs and leg wraps for Christmas

I am totally gobsmacked by all of this- and there are so many of you it seems almost notmal. Are any of you at a livery yard- and just where do you have room for such a library of rugs?

Yes, get another horse that takes the same size then you don't feel as guilty. For one horse I have

I tend to like certain makes and styles so when I see them on clearance I buy them and have them on reserve for when gives up the ghost.

1 x Amigo no fill T/O
1 x Gallop no fill T/O
1x MW WB hi neck Taka T/O
1 x MW FAL T/O with detachable neck
1x HW WB hi neck Taka T/O
1x HW WB hi neck Taka Contour T/O with detachable neck
1 x WB Jasper LW Stable rug
1 x Saxon LW Stable rug
1 Caldene Jupiter MW Stable rug
1 WB Belmont HW stable rug
1 WB Highgrove HW stable rug
1 Amigo MW liner
1 WB MW under rug
1 Mark Todd MW under rug
1x WB Fleece (came free with a T/O so doesn't count)
1 x unbranded fleece
1x unbranded mesh/fleece cooler thing
1 x WB polar fleece (still in its bag)
1 x Mark Todd travel rug (won in competition so doesn't count)
1 x Thermatex

I had three more but gave one away, threw one away and washed one on too hot a wash and it shrunk.

I then took on a horse on loan which only came with a Rhino HW T/O and while he is a little bigger than my other horse, there is enough of an overlap that I could split them.

I have one of those rug bags and can get nearly everything I'm not using in there.

Then the ones in use hang up in the stable. At the moment I have a MW and HW t/o depending on the weather plus the same in stable rugs hanging up in the stable or on the horses back.

I have 1 horse and have.....

6 x fleeces
4 x stable rugs
2 x medium weight turnout
1 x light weight turnout
2 x heavy weight turnout
5 x exercise sheets
3 x fly rugs

Plus various coolers under rugs and vests

I also have about 10 saddle cloths, I have only ever owned 2 horses too so this isn't an accumulation over different horses, I just can't help myself, I see an bargain and I buy regardless of if I need it or not!!!
