Opinions are like bum holes, everyone has one.
Today went to West Wilts to do Novice had a lovely early start at 5am for 8am dressage. Got on horse at and he warmed up ok and did a sweet test not great but ok. Its always a bummer being first in but scored 39 so ok.
SJ looked big to me but horse popped round and was unlucky to just have one down. This is a massive improvement from being technically eliminated in May SJ!
Finally xc walked it was not big but had a few questions tho think about - first one was a hedge followed by a pimple. Did not fancy the pimple after a hedge as I have a long striding 17hh yak so looked at alternative and it looked fine. Second question was a bounce but the alternative was so horrid that I just had to hope Yak was being clever today as he is not the most nimble quick thinking creature. Yak flew round making nothing of it. Popped through the bounce easy as anything came through finish and found I had jumped alternative after hedge the wrong way. Doh!! Even worse I had only 8 time faults. But actually I am not too annoyed as he gave me a great ride and luckily he does not know his rider is pants! I will only be annoyed if I could have been placed.
Would definitely recommend WW as a good novice for green horses as nothing very scary and lots of alternatives at tricky fences.
I am now back at work and feel knackered! Roll on 5.30pm!!
