Oh, I didn't realise that you were his Mum! He rode a fantastic round, even with the fact that he only came second (ONLY!), it sounds like a bit of a fairy tale. So sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm sure his Grandmother would have been very proud of him.
I am definitely going to follow his career, what a talented team
I am so sorry to hear about your Mum but I think Andy has done you all proud and I am sure she was looking over his shoulder for him.
He rode a fantastic round and although it was a shame he was beaten into second - I am glad it was by Geoff (if you know what I mean). Fantastic riders both of them.
Oh god definetly tears from me reading that. Can only agree with the above that the very sad passing of your mum left him with a hard decision but he definetly made the right one. She would have been incredibly proud and i'm sure she was watching down on him today. Such an amazing acheivment full stop to get round that course with only one down never mind in those conditions and with also the emotion of losing his gran. He was exceptional as was Gerry. Gerry and Andrew are both a real credit to each other and of course to you and your husband.
Oh and would be very disappointed if Andrew doesn't have a sore head in the morning
Freshman so sorry to hear about your mother, it has fairly been an emotional week for your whole family.
Andy will have made his Gran just so so proud today, I am sure she is smiling down on him and very proud of her grand-son.
This is such a well deserved achievement for Andy but also for you and your OH and the amount of support you give. Having met Andy and your OH and spoken to you on several occasions one can see the love and support that your family has for each other.
Just so so pround of you..................and Gerry...........what a star, especially on those conditions as well.
Those celebrations are well deserved for all and we are certainly wishing you all the best for the future. Andy is such a wonderful jockey and it was great to see him grinning from ear to ear this afternoon on the telly..............my heart welled up so much and to say us all up North were so pleased for him and you all was an understatement.............
What a wonderful, maturely ridden round by Andy on a very very impressive horse. And how nice to see Geoff and Andy looking so pleased about their rounds and eventual placings. They've both done showjumping a world of good today and well done them.
Well done Andy. What a fantastic round in some really trying conditions. You must be so proud. Very sorry to hear about your mum, she was obviously shining down on him.
firstly Sorry about your mum. Must have been a very hard decision for Andy.
Secondly - i didn't realise he was your son - a massive well done - I was cheering for him and really did think he'd bag'd it - esp after David Broome said on the tanny, that it wasn't going to be won by a rooky!!! What an amazing result.
I am also very chuffed for Geoff - what an outstanding result for him - so pleased!
Missed it all yesterday,in Liverpool sorting lease out on daughters uni house for next year! Going to sit down this evening and watch recording of Hickstead. Watched a tiny bit of speed Derby last night, that ground was awful. Well done Andy, and what an emotional week Freshman, condolences on the loss of your Mum, it must be a very hard time for you.
Andrew did brilliantly today. Really really well. You should be so proud freshman! And wasn't it nice to see the top 2 so clearly happy! Andrew had such a big grin on his face which was lovely to see and GB of course was over the moon. I hate seeing show jumpers miserable even when they win (like J & M Whitaker for example, they never seem to look happy....!)
