I got back on board yesterday.
Frustratingly though, we’ve had some large concrete boulders dumped and posts put up to stop someone driving around the farmland and wrecking the ground (long story). This, combined with the arrival of the sheep for winter and their low, invisible electric fencing, makes for a rather fraught hacking experience. I had to do an emergency leap off as Millie reversed me into the electric fence when I asked her to go past the boulder. Needless to say I’m a bit annoyed at the moment! The farmer has left gaps for us to ride through, but it doesn’t take into account any spooking or general merriment and I fear for leg crushing.

SJ training went quite well- horse was pretty feisty and forced a couple of errors (bucking 3 strides out from a 1.10 treble was not her smartest move, but she left it all intact, somehow) I think we found a better canter, but it needs to be more pinpoint accurate to go up another height.
Video here if anyone wants something to pass the time

That was quite a buck TM! Love how you manage to keep focused and calm despite her antics.

I'm late to the party this week. We did a nice hack on Friday, just chatting and pottering along, then I was able to school in the daylight for the first time in a couple of weeks on Saturday morning. Danny was great, he's becoming so much more adjustable in trot and canter. We worked on our rein-back but that needs work - he used to go backwards a lot when we halted so I did a lot of work to break the habit. Being asked to go backwards is a bit of a shock!

We're off for a lesson at AMD this lunchtime (yay for Christmas hols!!), it will be nice to be indoors in this drizzle. We're lucky enough to just about be in Tier 2 still so training and our comp on 30th December can still go ahead.

Just hacking for me this weekend. Realised that the big lad could actually do with some time off, so have decided to scrap training for AF Medium, and just do easy hacking for a couple of weeks, then build it back up again. He's worked so hard and learnt so many new things that he just needs some time to chill. He's only 9, and new to Medium, so there is no rush to go out doing things. Plus covid may stop it running anyway.

I hacked with a friend over the weekend but today braved a hack alone. I say braved; big cob is an exceptionally good hack and there is very little in this world which upsets him. I lost my bottle a bit when we were getting eventing fit because he knew the canter tracks and would set off at a very speedy pace before I could even think about it ?
We just hacked around the roads today and it was uneventful until we road past a field of fluffy ponies. They were either fat or pregnant ? Anyway, them cantering towards us was fine, a bit of curiosity but that was it. Unfortunately, they sent a secret signal to Mr T so that when they cantered away, he was trying to join them. Turns out they had inducted him as a member of their herd. How rude! Some squealing, shenanigans and side-stepping later and we managed to drag ourselves away from our new-found friends, apologised to the very polite queue of traffic which formed behind us and we continued home, with our walk being replaced by a very fancy passage.

More hacking tomorrow! May take a different route...

Fortunately we know each other very well so it kind of works. Unfortunately as she is a product entirely of my own making her faults are my fault so it's not as smooth as it should be!

Have you ever tried her in a Fairfax bridle - specifically their drop? I have a mare who looks like she has some similarities to yours (mine was not even nearly jumping as well as yours though!) and the fairfax has really really helped.

Hope you don't mind me mentioning it - it just enabled me to side step a whole load of mare attitude and issues so thought I'd share in case it helped you too.

Lovely hack on Saturday little pole session yesterday then a nice hack again today. Been sticking to the roads as so wet but ventured around a track round the edge of some fields today which was nice.

Interesting idea, I haven’t had her in anything else but could have a play around. To be fair to her, she isn’t normally so against the hand, I've got into a bit of a bad habit of panicking off the corner and taking one too many pulls which is what much of the fuss is about

I took Arts out to do a little prelim yesterday, only her second competitive outing. She was lovely - settled much better, was super keen get in the ring, andafter the test attempted to take me off on a hack around the centre rather than heading back in the direction of the lorry as I was asking...she's definitely a quirky soul. Unfortunately they had moved the judges box (shed type affair with wibbly perspex front) into the arena rather than a table or car and Arty was not a fan, so all the movements at that end of the arena were a right off. Trot quality was better than last time, canter still needs work, but happy with 63% in the circumstances. A couple of nice pictures, a comedy picture and her talking to the camera with her oh so expressive lip before going in.

I am way late to this party! we had an amazing jumping lesson on Friday morning, he was awesome, just felt so settled and happy. it really seems like SJ is where it's at for us. He thrives show jumping, he is relaxed and happy and enjoys it. It was such a fun lesson, I felt like we had so many improvements and I can't wait to do more.

They had Saturday off because it was hot, then Sunday we had a lovely hack. It was cool and no flies and no one else around. Just perfect!

Well I bailed on clinic yest as felt awful (and obvs couldn't risk it) and the one next week is now cancelled so no clinics for me. Might try and sit on something at work next week just for a leg stretch.

Bloody covid.
