Rarely! There is so much of it that it becomes a massive task.
Someone who was having a poke around my tack room yesterday told me that it was very clean though, which I though was good considering it was last done in November sometime!

Once a week. I strip bridle down & remove girth, numnah, leathers & irons from saddle. Saddle soap it all & oil it if it needs it.

Yes, my friends take the mickey out of me too......

i wash it off the moment i take it off the horse, leave it to dry, then use Effol on it, every day.
however, i can't remember the last time i took it all apart!

Oh I'm ashamed now! I clean mine every couple of weeks but I'd like to have the time to do it every day! I also clean it before I go anywhere.

Oh crikey, now i think of it probably about three times a year. When I first got the saddle it was every time i used it, now the novelty has worn off!!

I wash the bits off every time i use them, even if i've only lunged/long reined.
girths and bridles get a quick wipe with a damp cloth everytime they're used, and soaped weekly.
saddles get cleaned before hunting/a competiton.

boots get brushed off after use and are washed weekly, and numnahs are changed after a week.

At pony club camp (years ago) we had to take it apart and clean it properly every day. It you didn't the DC chucked it on the floor....GGGRRRRRRRRRR. I clean my posh saddle b4 and afetr competing.. the GP get cleaned when we have a lesson or go to RC. I never have enough time in my day ever!!!

Wipe and a smear with something everytime its used. Infact I was thinking I must treat the leather bits on my chambon today. Bits go in the dishwasher every now and then. Numnah and boots brushed off then washed weekly or more if needed. Grooming kit gets washed aswell. I spent alot of money on my tack ( which I haven't got ) and I want to look after it for me and the comfort of my horse.

Me too - except mine is usually fortnightly. I quite enjoy cleaning it and as it's quite a big investment, I do want to look after it all.

Yeah. That's how I feel. I also find it soothing in a weird way, probs the monotony of it

If you do it in front of the tv on a lazy evening then it's quite enjoyable.

Give it a good wipe over every time it is used.... take apart once a week and give good clean..... clean bit every use. Use brushing boots two or three times before washing.... saddlecloths used maximum of twice......

I look at it this way - would you want to wear yesterdays underwear???

oops, i didn't mean Effol, i meant Effax! *blushes in shame*
it only takes about 2 mins a day if i do it every day.
all the stuff that i hardly use gets done every few months, i guess. not that much of an angel...!

Ok, last time my tack was cleaned was when a friend did it through boredom last summer, before that it was probably the summer before... so yeah! it doesnt get cleaned! i do make sure the bit is rinsed off though, dont like manky bits!

I clean my side saddle everytime I ride it but that is because it's nearly 100 years old and I have to keep it oiled regularly as the leather was dry when I got it and to check the stitching all the time.

My bridle and my other saddle (A wintec), get cleaned less often although I do brush the mud off my brushing boots everytime I take them off Sen though.

Hehehe I get to insert smug face. all the harness gets cleaned with warm water after its used then oiled/kocoaline/leather dressing the next day. I spend probs about hour n half in the harness room a day. We dont have any saddles although the one open bridle we use when we hack out gets leather dressing once in a blue moon! I did chuck a load of dressing on the billet ends a little while ago before then break at a crutial moment!

Oh god! Well NEVER I mean that's what you have staff for, for goodness sake isn't it?

Ha! Yeah right, if only. Um, I hardly ever do it now but when it was new I did it every time I used it......

Bits are always washed and numnahs/girth sleeve is cleaned as often as needed.

I always strip clean it (take everything apart and clean properly inc. polishing stirrup irons etc) before hunting or a competition,
and i always at least wipe it down afterwards.
between times i wipe it down after every other ride and strip clean it about once a fortnight.

smug grin for me please!

Mine gets a quick clean every 1-2 weeks. It is stripped, cleaned and dressed every 4-6 weeks.

Saddle is synthetic so I just do that when it looks dirty or before a comp.

Mine was done yesterday for my lesson from a visiting instuctor, we went to a posh yard for my lesson. Before that it hadn't been done since September!

I wipe it most times I use it, and a better clean once a week, I only really take it apart if I have a comp. Brush numnah each time and wash once a week or so, brush boots but don't wash that often.

The bit is washed after every use, the saddle & bridle are cleaned at least once a week, sometimes more depending what we've been doing. Tack is expensive to replace so we look after it well. Cleaning it in an evening infront of the TV is easy & doesn't take too long as we never let it get filthy.

I very rarely use my English saddle but when I do I always give it a quick clean over afterwards.

My western saddles are fully stripped and cleaned about once a year. It takes literally 3 to 4 hours to properly re-set one saddle .... and I have many!

I guess I do my headstalls/bridles about once every month or so, but oiling, never saddle soaping.
