I got my mare 2 years ago and she's a brilliant horse, just a very sensitive and sceptical girl, we think she wasn't treated the best in her post-9 year old life as a hireling then broodmare. When i bought her I thought she had a thoropin - I absolutely don't mind cosmetic lumps and bumps and I liked her too much to pass on her!
Gaining a bit more knowledge from others we've worked out that it's above the hock too much and is like a hard swelling so it's no thoropin /wind gall. The vet isn't concerned with it as she's not lame.
So I'm taking it as a healed bowed tendon injury (just in a strange place on the upper hind above the hock!) that healed and makes her feel uncomfortable sometimes. I have a new brilliant farrier who said that she feels more stiff on the old injury side (has corrective trimming anyway) and in the past she's always gone a little stiff when the spring grass arrives!
Would I be right in thinking some physio sessions and a good joint supplement would be good to her? She lives out and is on alfalfa cubes with an Equimins balancer with linseed Thank you
