Although I was intensely sad to say goodbye to my old hound the diagnosis of DM was in fact a comforting one @Clodagh . I found it hugely reassuring to know that she wasn't in pain and when the time came, it wasn't hard to make the call. I was grateful every day for my lovely old girl and I think it was a kind end to a wonderful life. I hope you can feel the same when that time comes round.

I agree with this. All 3 I’ve had to say goodbye to I’ve felt a wave of relief that I was able to make that decision for them.

my collie cross is almost 15 and seems to be coping ok most of the time.she has arthritis and is now almost deaf and her sight is failing .. she is on yumove advance and rimadyl which seems to make her more comfortable. i am paranoid about quality of life and as soon as i feel she is not enjoying life i will make the call. i am pretty sure that time will be sometime this year and i am not looking forward to it...:(
